Moonlight Sonata Op. 27, No. 2
Presto agitato is the last movement of Moonlight Sonata which we chose to listen to. This movement is
thoroughly different from other two movement of the piece in the way that transition of every note was played
with a rapidly and powerful sound. It begins with a fast and strong accent of piano note. Notes are emphasis
which result in making the sound and dynamic become loudest and heaviest. This created a distinction from the
first two movement that play more softly and slowly. Gradually loud and powerful accent of note is techniques
that Beethoven used a lot in this piece. The combination of high and low notes affect in grabbing listeners
attentiveness. At the very end of the composition, the piano seemed to be softer and slower which like it is
going to end but suddenly it was rapidly played again with a loud dynamic which was compared as Beethoven
feelings of angry and pained that never comes to recover at that time.
The third movement of the piece is our favourite because of the feelings that we receive while listening
to it. We feel like he is telling his sufferings of his own story even though there is no lyrics. The complexity of
emotion is expressed through every note. The feeling of storm and thunder came to us immediately when we
first heard it. The waving of notes made us feel his anxiousness, tense and temperamental explosion.
