JULY 2019

Basi, tukwawula! We’ve made it safely to Australia! We spent the last few weeks in Massangulo saying, “Basi, tukwawula!” (goodbye) to some of our closest friends. Late one afternoon, we found our favourite cheeky grandma, surrounded by her grandchildren, sitting around the fire in the backyard. They were cutting up a chicken and frying it, getting ready for Ramadan celebrations. We reminisced about how she (along with her husband) had been some of the first people to really welcome us in to their homes and hearts. I struggled to hold back the tears remembering just how incredibly generous they’d been to us as we bumbled our way along in the beginning making countless linguistic and cultural mistakes. Her husband, who has since passed away, was one of the first people we met. He was sitting on his verandah in the village when we walked past, trying to get acquainted with our new surroundings. He was an absolute crack up and launched straight into a detailed description of the problems he was having with his bowels and other private matters. He then took Cam inside for an inspection of the problematic parts and from that day forward - they were best friends! That couple was instrumental in making a way for our acceptance into the community. As we continued our travels around saying goodbyes, we were genuinely sad to be leaving and also incredibly grateful to see just how far God had brought us over the last three years in our new home.

Leaving Behind…

We had so many amazing things on the go when we left and we’d love you to keep praying with us about: - Our friend who has recently become a follower of Jesus is sharing his new found faith with many people in his village

and surrounding areas. Pray for Scott and our mate Shawn as they help disciple these new followers and for our friend as he continues to share the word.

- Sally’s house is cranking along! We left some guys working on rendering and Sally and Scott are now keeping everything ticking along. Mark Chambers (NSW) is heading out next month to help with some plumbing and installing kitchen cupboards. If you’d like to help out in anyway - let us know! Pray for funding, for Scott and Sally, for safety for all of the workers, for Mark and for more volunteers to help finish it off.

- I (Kath) started doing some physio work with my little mate Hussein (3 years old) who was struck down by Acute Flaccid Paralysis a couple of months ago. Previously a perfectly healthy child, he woke up one morning unable to to move his arms or legs. He has started to recover slowly but still has a long way to go.

Back in Australia!

We’re currently in Sydney for two weeks of training and having a great time catching up with people and being encouraged and inspired! It’s great to share stories with people, reflect on our time in Moz and think ahead to our time here.

We’re heading back to Perth on July 13th and we’re really looking forward to catching up with YOU! We’ll spend the first week or two settling in and getting the kids ready to start school later in the month and then we have quite a few visits to churches and other groups lined up! We have some wonderful stories to share and we’re looking forward to hearing what you’ve been up to as well!

If you would like us to come to your home group, church, Men’s group, MOPS group or anything else you can think of please let us know!

We took a few weeks off on the way home for some holidays. We had a wonderful time celebrating Matilda’s 11th birthday and exploring some incredible new places. Here are a few holiday pics!

Our plans for the next few months: July 13th - Arrive “home” - Yippee July 21st - Rivo! We’re not doing anything that morning but super excited to be back at our home church! We’re going to need your help

We’re going to need to raise some more financial support while we’re back here in Australia. Over the last three years, our budget has increased a bit with various things becoming more expensive, we’ve had a few people whose circumstances mean they are no longer able to support us and those few things combined with inflation mean that we currently have a shortfall of approximately $2000 a month. We’d love you to consider some of the following ways that you might be able to help us out with this:

- Already part of our amazing team of financial supporters? Could you increase your current donation by 5 or 10%? Or perhaps you know someone else who might be willing and able to join you. We’d love for you to advocate for us.

- Not yet part of our team? We’re looking for 40 more people giving $50/month and we would love you to join us! Any monthly/quarterly/annual amount, no matter how big or small, will help us to stay working in Mozambique.

- Can’t commit to regular support? One off donations of any amount are very welcome.

If you’re not able to contribute financially, we have many other ways that you can still be a part of our support team. We desperately need people standing with us and our Yawo friends in prayer. We’d love to give you the name and details of a Yawo friend of ours that you can be regularly praying for. We also love to get emails and letters of encouragement and any information from back home.
