their specific needs as they make the needed changes to be more effective in the Affordable Care
Act (ACA) Environment.
Funding Opportunity Announcement Released on
March 30, 2011 Grant application due May 9, 2011 The FOA is organized in 2 Parts and 5 Program
Areas that states can select for development and action
Each Program Area is awarded separately and is competitive
Activities piloted with American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding will be expanded to more states with this ACA funding

Part IEnhancing Immunization
Information Systems Program Area 1
Enhance interoperability between electronic health records (EHRs) and immunization information system (IIS) and reception of Health Level 7 (HL7) standard messages into IISKansas is one of 33 states eligible to apply for this
funding.Estimate 20 awards will be givenAverage amount of award $900K

IIS Interoperability Goal:
Increase the number of private provider EHRs capable of interoperability with KSWebIZ from 2 to 10 and increase the number of provider sites electronically exchanging data with KSWebIZ from 3 to 33

Interoperability Activity Implement a web-based provider database tracking tool
to maintain data on all private providers and contract with a vendor to customize and implement this tool

Develop a vaccine ordering module in an IIS that interfaces with CDC’s VTrckS vaccine ordering and management systemKansas is one of 6 CDC immunization grantees
using the WebIZ IIS who will benefit from a vaccine ordering module.

New or enhanced LHD relationships with community health centers with expanded adult vaccination efforts
Improved health care worker influenza vaccination rates at facilities including hospitals and nursing homes

Report on the total amount billed and reimbursed
