becoming your coworkers favorite coworker v2

Becoming Your Coworkers Favorite Coworker Let’s face it, when you spend 40+ hours a week with the same people, you’re going to get to know them on a deeper level than casual niceties. You’ll come across many different kinds of people in any office, including some that you don’t get along with. However, there’s a few ways that you can become (almost) everyone’s favorite coworker. 1. Be Reliable A trait often underappreciated, being reliable is key in making sure you stay on good terms with all of your coworkers. This doesn’t mean that you have to take on everyone else’s workload and stay until after hours to complete everything – but if a coworker asks for some help with an assignment, be there to help them. 2. Be Honest This is so important! Always be honest to your coworkers. If they run a draft by you to get your feedback, give them your honest opinion and most direct edit suggestions. They will no doubt appreciate your constructive honesty. 3. Be Open I’ve found that being open is a great way to form a bond with your coworkers. Telling them what’s going on in your life outside of the office is a way for your coworkers to get to know you. If you are not open to discussing your outside life – that’s totally fine! Talk about the latest celebrity gossip, world affairs, or anything else! 4. Don’t be Scared This tip can be applied to several different aspects of office life. Don’t be scared to give your opinion when you are asked, Don’t be scared to be who you are and let others get to know you Don’t be scared of what other people are saying about you (office gossip is the worst!) Don’t be scared to make mistakes.

Becoming Your Coworkers Favorite Coworker

Let’s face it, when you spend 40+ hours a week with the same people, you’re going to get to know them on a deeper level than casual niceties. You’ll come across many different kinds of people in any office, including some that you don’t get along with. However, there’s a few ways that you can become (almost) everyone’s favorite coworker.

1. Be ReliableA trait often underappreciated, being reliable is key in making sure you stay on good terms with all of your coworkers. This doesn’t mean that you have to take on everyone else’s workload and stay until after hours to complete everything – but if a coworker asks for some help with an assignment, be there to help them.

2. Be HonestThis is so important! Always be honest to your coworkers. If they run a draft by you to get your feedback, give them your honest opinion and most direct edit suggestions. They will no doubt appreciate your constructive honesty.

3. Be OpenI’ve found that being open is a great way to form a bond with your coworkers. Telling them what’s going on in your life outside of the office is a way for your coworkers to get to know you. If you are not open to discussing your outside life – that’s totally fine! Talk about the latest celebrity gossip, world affairs, or anything else!

4. Don’t be ScaredThis tip can be applied to several different aspects of office life.

Don’t be scared to give your opinion when you are asked, Don’t be scared to be who you are and let others get to know youDon’t be scared of what other people are saying about you (office gossip is the worst!)Don’t be scared to make mistakes.

No one is perfect, no matter how hard they may try. Mistakes will happen and it is always better to own up to these mistakes than to have your coworkers find out about them at a later date.

5. Don’t Be a JerkThis is the most obvious yet crucial way to build and maintain office friendships – don’t be a jerk! Being nice to everyone, all the time – even if you feel like they might not deserve it, is definitely tough, especially on days when you’re extremely stressed out. However, it’ll earn you a great reputation around the office.
