BONJOUR INDIA is a decade-long tradition that has energised Indo-French innovation, creativity and partnership. Institut français India would like to invite your school on-board this platform towards greater Indo-French partnership through a One-Day BONJOUR INDIA Inter-School French Festival.

As part of this festival, students will research a topic that unites India and France and showcase their findings through paintings, songs, games, or other presentation forms. Through this collaborative exchange between students from both countries, the festival aims to strengthen the friendship between India and France. Students will thus simultaneously engage and take forward the shared Indo-French values of innovation, creativity and partnership.

ThemeThe theme of the festival is: France in India & India in France

DomainsUnder the above theme, teams may choose one of the domains:

1. Go Green: Innovation / Environment 2. Medicine 3. Engineering 4. Writing / Literature

5. Architecture / Heritage 6. Transport (Public, civil and defence)

7. Cuisine 8. Media (films, songs) 9. Music

10. Theatre 11. Sports12. Famous personalities

Presentation CategoriesParticipating teams may showcase their project in one of the following categories:

1. Short film (documentary / fiction) 2. Songs / Karaoke 3. PowerPoint / YouTube 4. Painting / Drawing / Photography 5. Theatre 6. Activities / Games / Quizzes

Age group 13 to 18 years of age

Location The festival will be held in all major cities of India. Your school can be one of the host schools.

Participation FormatsThere are three formats, classified by the number of schools in the format

• The participating schools shall organise the festival in their premises • The school shall host teams from other neighbouring schools in the State

FORMAT 30• Host teams from a minimum of 30 schools

FORMAT 10• Host teams from a minimum of 10 schools

FORMAT 01• Organise the festival for its own students

Format 30: “Schools for excellence in French language”These schools:

• are partners of the Institut français India for the promotion of French language in India. • adhere to Institut français India guidelines for imparting French language to students.• encourage their students to participate in internationally recognised DELF examinations.

Format 10: “Schools for Indo-French friendship”These schools:

• work hard for the exposure of their students to the world and to new cultures. • regularly organise or wish to organise student exchange programmes with France and with other foreign countries. • have many students that participate in internationally recognised DELF examinations.

Format 1: “Schools with a global outlook”These schools:

• continue to provide a vision and outlook towards the world to their students, despite being situated in small cities with less access to transport facilities. • continue to overcome the challenges and continue to promote foreign languages in their premises.

Schools will participate similarly in terms of team and infrastructure. Hosting will differ according to the format of the schools participating.

School participation & format:Format 30: Priority will be given to schools which have already signed the agreement with Institut français India in the framework of project: “School for excellence in French Language.”

In case your school is not accredited as “School for excellence in French Language“ it may participate in the BONJOUR INDIA Inter-School Festival and choose either “Format 10” or “Format 1”.

The following is valid for all formats: Teams: Each participating school shall send teams to the host school:

• maximum of 3 teams per school • each team of maximum 10 students

Infrastructure: The host school may organise this festival using the existing school infrastructure

• Short films/ documentaries • Music/ Songs: auditorium, halls • Sports: playground • Paintings: long corridors • Cuisine: class rooms, home science laboratories etc.

Public:• Students of the participating schools• Parents of the participating students

Support from the network of the Embassy of France:

The dignitaries from the network shall be pleased to be a part of this festival hosted by your school:

• Embassy of France in India• Institut français India• Alliance Française network in India• Consulates of the French Embassy in India• Campus France network in India

Our office shall coordinate with the French network on behalf of the host schools.

Institut Français India: IFI shall provide a special e-kit to the host schools, prepared specially for the festival. This kit shall contain the matrix template which the host school and the participating schools/teamsmay use to create:

• Banners • Posters • PPT • T-Shirts • Links to the websites that can help students for the presentations

Theme: France in India

Domain: Cuisine

Format: Short films / Documentary / YouTube

Indo-French cuisine

Students / Team would prepare a documentary on heritage of French cuisine still present in Indian food, especially in regions which where historically under the French rule.

This documentary film shows: • A student (or the cook) explaining the recipe and cooking it in front of the camera for the spectators.

Presentation: • In school classroom/auditorium with projector.

Extra input: • In case the students have the facility, they may prepare the recipe and/or serve the final dish to spectators.

Theme: France in India

Domain: Sports

Format: Activity

Petanque in Pondicherry

Students/ Team may present the game of Petanque which is still present in Pondicherry. Activity with Petanque balls: • A game of Petanque may be organised in the school playground. • Students may prepare dummy Petanque balls using the tennis balls as moulds. • They may fill the tennis balls with jute strings and cement to create their own Petanque balls for the event.

Presentation: • Either a short film (using the mobile phone) or a Powerpoint Presentation. • In school classroom/auditorium with projector. • Poster with rules of the game may be put up for the attendees.

Extra input: • Students prepare a flyer with the description of the rules of the game. This flyer may be distributed to the audience/spectators.

Theme: India in France

Domain: Architecture / Heritage

Format: Short films / Documentary / Painting / YouTube

Indo-French architecture / heritage monument

Students / Team should prepare a presentation in any of the formats mentioned above on a heritage monument dedicated to India in France.

This presentation shows:

• The images of the monument.

• Its history.

• Its relevance today.

Presentation:

• If paintings: In a long corridor of the school

• If documentary: In school classroom/auditorium with projector.

Activity:

Students build a model of the famous Indian and French monuments.

Domain: Famous personalities

Format: Short films / Documentary / Painting / YouTube

Famous Indian personality in France

Students / Team should prepare a presentation in any of the formats mentioned above on an Indian personality in France.

Hint: An Indian has been chosen as a mayor of a French city.

This presentation shows: • The images of the person. • His / her biography. • Relevance today.

Presentation: • If paintings: In a long corridor of the school • If documentary: In school classroom/auditorium with projector.

Extra input: The Team may try to take a Skype interview of this person and showcase it during the festival.

Domain: Transport, civil

Format: Short film or PowerPoint Presentation

Indo-France Transport cooperation

Students / Team may present the Indo-French partnership in public transport.

The team may choose one of the following sectors where the two countries worked together:

Metro,

Trains,

Sailing

&

Cycling.

Team should showcase what has been achieved in India by collaborating with French engineering companies.

Presentation:

• Either a short film (using the mobile phone) or a PowerPoint

Presentation.

• In school classroom/auditorium with projector.

Extra input:

• Prepare and showcase models of the transport.

• Students may visit the actual sites of the work in progress

(if any in the city) and incorporate original video clippings in the

presentation.

Domain: Media

Format: Songs

Bollywood Songs in France

Students / Team should showcase recent Indian films (in different Indian languages) which have been released in France.

The team may select few songs and translate them in French.

Presentation: • The team may sing the songs in French in front of the spectators.

• A small clip of the films may be played in the background

simultaneously.

• In school auditorium with projector.
