The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Incorporated (CBCF) has partnered with organizations in the U.S. and China to offer students an opportunity to become global citizens and experience the immersive China study abroad program. The U.S.-China Study Delegation, as the program is called, provides African-American students with the opportunity to experience Chinese culture and learn Mandarin during a two-week visit to China. Through this program, the CBCF is working to increase career and study options involving US-China relations, expanding opportunities for African Americans in an era of increasing globalization. This study-abroad experience offers diverse educational activities and excursions taking place over two weeks in Beijing and Shanghai. Students attend lectures on Chinese history and culture, US-China relations, and Chinese economic development. Students also participate in cultural activities such as a tour of the Summer Palace and the Great Wall, a visit to the Xixi Wetland Museum, workshops on Chinese paintings and Chinese culinary art. Interested students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale with declared majors or relevant coursework in Natural sciences, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Energy development, Trade, Business, or International Relations/Affairs. The U.S.-China Study Delegation, as the program is called, provides African-American students with the opportunity to experience Chinese culture and learn Mandarin during a two-week visit to China.
