A goodburger in town

LunchHang out

Born10-15 €

The Burger is the international sandwich with a crown, it is King. In Barcelona there is no short list of Burger places to choose from, there are cheap and fast burgers, vegetarian burgers, and good but pricy ones; But if you are looking for a good juicy gourmet burger at a reasonable price then you need not look further than Kiosko to satisfy your monster sandwich craving.

Page 7: Beat Magazine
Page 8: Beat Magazine

Manchego with caramelized onions but I have to say that the best one so far has been the burger of the month which was 200g of good beef with goat cheese, caramelized onions, tomato, lettuce and onion figs- it was divine! Every time I have gone and my burger arrives I think to myself I cannot possibly finish this burger! But one bite after another of this deli-cious burgers and you are done before you know it feeling happy and full.

So next time you find yourself looking for a good burger place Kiosko will provide you with a satisfying and good variety of the best bread-patty-cheese combina-tion. A good thing too is you can order your burgers to go and enjoy them in the park near by or at the beach!

It is quite normal to see a line forming out-side on a sunday afternoon just before the restaurant opens it’s doors at noon, and for good reason, here you can find one of the best burgers in town. Located in the Born quarter, just before heading to La Barceloneta, Kiosko is easy to spot given its attractive window walls that make the passersby walking down Carrer Marquès De L’Argentera turn around and see the place full of people enjoying these deli-cious burgers.

Kiosko takes inspiration in the past and has a vintage feel which aims to bring back the tradition of gourmet burgers. The burgers are made on a coal grill with only the best and freshest ingredients available. Even when the place is full there is always movement, the service is fast and people come in and out pretty quickly. The place runs in a semi self service, you walk in and make a line right away to order. You have an extensive menu to choose from with numerous top-pings and recommended burgers or you can also build your own. There is also a Variety of breads to choose from and sev-eral different style french fries. Once you order and pay you are handed a number you must then look for a place to sit and wait about 10-15 minutes and a server will bring you your burger.

After having gone several times given that the place is close to home, I have tried a couple of different ones. From the classic with Swiss, or the Spanish

Here you can find The Best bread-patty-cheese combinations.

Grácia10-20 €

A small and cozy Nepali restaurant located in the district of Gràcia. In a simple and warm space, Prem Gurung -born in this country of the Himalayas- offers the most traditional recipes from his homeland in an extensive menu that features specialties such as Thali Dalbhat or Momo. With an original front window that has nothing to do with the exotic clichés typical of this kind of establishments, Himali welcomes us into a small, simple and nice space perfect to enjoy the gastronomic culture of Nepal.

We were surprised with a greatvarietry of vegetarian choises in this, the first Nepalese restaurant in Barcelona. Not an easy menu to choose from, so do ask for help and recommendations from the waiters, though they are incredibly friendly. Nepalese food has influences from both, Indian and the Pakistani cuisine and has a close conection with religion and the gods. The more side dishes with the rice, the more religious. A place not only to discover the typical food from Nepal, but also to get to know the country with the Himalayan Moun-tains and Buddism. You should definitely take a gourmet journey from the heart of Catalunya to the heart of Nepal.

Wasabi is a local sushi shop that you can pass through and not notice it but once you enter it you discover a world of authentic suchi and sashimi and a great Japanese ambience. Don’t be fooled by the interior design, they didn’t really pay a lot of attention to it. But the food is fresh and good. We enjoyed it a lot!

Cantina Machito is the best Mexican restaurant in Barcelona, well definitely at least in the ditrict Grácia, that keeps its reputation up by offering hight quality food sticking to real Mexican reci-pes, really nice staff and the great athmosphere that is created by authentic Mexican decora-tion. Amazing place to spend a night with your friends or family enjoying well-made guacamole con nachos and having fresh michelada as a drink.

Cantina Machito is a genuine Mexican restaurant (not just Tex-Mex) that provides delicious food. It’s a small place, and in the midst of many of Gracia’s Middle Eastern places, but it’s worth seeking out. The guacamole was chunky and tangy, the chicken mole was superb, and the tacos (served on an open tortilla) were very tasty. The margaritas were as good as we’ve had anywhere, but were on the small side (maybe a good decision). The service was very good and the prices very reasonable. Our experience was much better. We’d happily eat there again and again.

Asian Tapas

DinnerFirst Date

Born15-25 €

If your’e tired of eating Spanish Tapas, this is the place to go for an exotic twist on the traditional tapas plates. Mosquito offers what they call “ex-otic tapas” from the asian continent. The menu consists mainly of different types of dumplings from hong kong and china but also a variety of other plates. But not only does mosquito offer great food, it has a wide variety of beers from all over europe. So if you want to enjoy some hand made dim-sum and a good “cerveza” this is a per-fect place for a night out. But don’t come too late because the place gets packed quickly, and if you plan to come on a weekend, making a reservation is recommended.

Mosquito opened it’s doors in 2003, of-fering a new and exciting menu of high quality asian tapas fusioned with a grand variety of beers from all over the world. “La Carta” consists mainly of different types of dumplings from hong kong and china but also a variety of other plates. From what we tried we highly recom-mend a unique plate of mushroom tapas callled “bolets amb mantega”, but also don’t miss out on the marvelous steamed and grilled dumplings, which are offered for vegetarians and meat lovers as well. If your still hungry, try the lemon chicken which is simple dish with a nice twist. But not only does mosquito offer great food, it had a strong reputation for it’s drinks as well. Mosquito offers a wide variety of beers from all over europe. And not only beers, Mosquito is the solemn importer of cafes from Vietnam which are served in the restaurant, and perfect to finish off the many flavours and tastes of the tapas. So if you want to enjoy some hand made dim-sum and a good “cerveza”, don’t miss out!

Raval5-10 €

Although eating in fancy restaurants can be fun, sometimes there’s nothing like eat-ing some good full-filling street-food. In the Raval, Barcelona’s immigrant quarter, there is a variety of street food, espe-cially from the middle east. We chose to focus on one of our favorite’s: Shawarma. Because there are quite a few to find on the streets, after a deep investigation we chose the best Shawarma so we can share with you.

Kebabs are practically sanctified in Bar-celona. They are the savior of the masses caught between bar and home, at un-godly hours, with a hankering for cheap, flavorful food. And it takes only one such encounter to form a lasting devotion.Bismillah Kebabish can lay claim to being one of the best outlets around. The bread is made in-house, in view of the customer, the meat is succulent and the salad looks as fresh as if it came straight from the field. The dining area is also pleasant enough to stick around and eat in, with attractive, traditional tiling complimenting a clean and bright atmosphere.

Gothic Quarter5-10 €

Salterio is a little jewel in the center of Bar-celona. It is a magical place where you can sit quietly and enjoy a perfectly brewed tea along a freshly made pita sardos or “arab pastry” in good company. It is small and cozy and the hosts are incredibly kind and welcoming. It is the place to go when you want to escape the madness of the city and feel transported to another place and time.

When I first moved here with my sister we stumble upon it by accident in one of our afternoon wonderings around the city. Lo-cated near Palau de la Generalitat you can find salterio hidden away in a tiny street with only a little candle light lantern indicating the entrance. Once you walk inside the smell of incense, the wide range of teas, the really tasty pita sardos in any of their varieties and the charming music make you forget about palace of politicians and chaos of tourist and gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling like you can relax and enjoy a good simple meal and tea before heading back to the concrete jungle. Getting lost is not such a bad thing here because because most of the time you end up finding beautiful places like this one!
