Till we find our self confidence, our own voices, and brand Indian ways of innovation that go beyond the stereotypical jugaad that seems to be our only answer to innovation, we will have to remain content with aping others and making the same mistakes that the others made — others, who incidentally are not brighter than us. Till that time, no original innovation will come out of India.

“The real problem of education is the implicit acceptance of the notion that high-status analytical courses are superior to those that encourage the student to develop an intuitive "feel" for the incalculable complexity of the real world.”

…the keys to the kingdom are changing hands. The future belongs to a very different kind of person with a very different kind of mind—creators and empathizers, pattern recognizers, and meaning makers. These people—artists, inventors, designers, storytellers, caregivers, consolers, big picture thinkers—will now reap society’s richest rewards and share its greatest joys.

Yoga Sutra 3:26-28 states that through, samayama concentration, meditation, and unbroken mental absorption) on the sun, moon, and pole star, we can gain knowledge of the planets and stars. Sutra 3:33 clarifies, saying: "Through keenly developed intuition, everything can be known. It is accessible only to those who have completely stilled their mind, focusing their attention on one object with laser-like intensity. Those who have limited their mind are no longer limited to the fragments of knowledge supplied by the five senses. All knowledge becomes accessible to them or can it?”

"The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant.

We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.“

--Albert Einstein

Bells Photo phone; ARTHUR CLARCK

1880 - Photo phone Transmitter

“The ordinary man…will find a little difficulty in comprehending how sunbeams are to be used. Does Prof. Bell intend to connect Boston and Cambridge…with a line of sunbeams hung on telegraph posts, and, if so, what diameter are the sunbeams to be…?…will it be necessary to insulate them against the weather…?…until (the public) sees a man going through the streets with a coil of No. 12 sunbeams on his shoulder, and suspending them from pole to pole, there will be a general feeling that there is something about Prof. Bell’s photophone which places a tremendous strain on human credulity.”

Wandering in India, Steve Jobs learned intuition:

Washington, (IANS) Apple co-founder Steve jobs’ wandering across India for seven months looking for spiritual enlightenment turned out “not be a waste of time” as he came back having learned intuition.“The main thing I’ve learned is intuition, that the people in India are not just pure rational thinkers, that the great spiritual ones also have an intuition,” he told his biographer Walter Isaacson.

“Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

What’s In the Way?

A brain which is depressed and under stress is incapable of intuitive insight, innovation and sustaining peak performance

• Most performance problems are caused by a condition called “neurotoxicity.”

• Neurotoxicity occurs when chronic stress repeatedly floods the brain with stress hormones, shrinking higher order brain networks.

A survey of 600 executives by the McKinsey Quarterly identified fear of failure as the primary inhibitor to change and innovation. Fear of failure, by definition is stress.

Neuroplasticity is the capacity of the brain to expand, reorganize, and better integrate higher brain function.

The result is a brain that can sustain peak performance and intuition.

A positively peaceful attitude literally rewires the brain.

New Dimension Thinking™

• Activating Intellect and Intuition

Strengthening Your Aura"When your aura is strong and healthy, it acts as a protective shield to help you stay emotionally and mentally strong and physically healthy, and also enhances your intuitive abilities. To strengthen your aura, maintain a balanced and healthy diet; try to get outdoors more often; breathe in clean, fresh air; exercise regularly; and go for a massage or bodywork. Take time to rest, relax, and meditate regularly. All of this will greatly assist in building your intuitive strength

• Chinese heritage of the image thinking is partly from Chinese calligraphy.

Page 37: Be creative with integral mind power Swami Vivekananda way

• Chinese medicine suggests to use some holistic methods like “Observation”, “Listening”, “Inquiring”, and “Pulse feeling and palpation” ( 望 , 闻 , 问 ,切) to collect information of the whole body and analyze intuitively.

• A Western scientist F. Capra pointed out: “the Chinese idea of the body has always been predominantly functional and concerned with the interrelations of its parts rather than with anatomical accuracy.”

• This means more relying on the intuitive thinking rather than analytic to the whole system.

Page 38: Be creative with integral mind power Swami Vivekananda way

• Intuition cannot be taught, but can be learned by practice.

• The creation of systems intuition(Chinese fashion):“习” ---Experience“薰” ---Nurtured“悟” ---Enlightenment“化” ---Sublimated You don’t know what you don’t know You know what you don’t know You know what you know You don’t know what you know

Imagination and creativity creativity imagination Analytic Experience The system intuition excels in the complex, uncertain,

ambiguous and highly unpredictable situation when the quick response is needed. Especially some real-life systems in the world are becoming complex adaptive systems. In such case, people can not follow the analytic procedure in terms of problem identification, problem definition, modeling, problem solving.

As our life becomes more dynamic and less structured, intuition gains more and more recognition as an essential decision making tool. You have probably heard of experienced decision makers who are able to directly recognize the best option or course of action in many tricky situations. The solution just comes to them from somewhere in their subconscious mind, instead of being a result a lengthy chain of logical derivations or a computer output from a complicated Monte Carlo simulation. FOR RAPID DEVOLOPMENT OF INTUITION THROUGHREPEATED EXPOSURE TO THE COMPLEXITY OF REAL PROBLEMS

When do you need intuition in management?

•Decision making situations where intuitive approach can help most include the following.• Expedient decision making and rapid response are required. •The circumstances leave you no time to go through complete rational analysis.•Fast paced change. •The factors on which you base your analysis change rapidly.•The problem is poorly structured.•The factors and rules that you need to take into account are hard to articulate in an unambiguous way.•You have to deal with ambiguous, incomplete, or conflicting information.•There is no precedent.

If we are to remain relevant to todays’ learners and if we are to prepare them well for their future, the development of creative thinking skills in our students (and teachers) need to be nurtured and developed.

Swami Vivekananda says that: “Now this knowledge again is inherent in man. No knowledge comes from outside; it is all inside.” All knowledge that the world has ever received comes from the mind; the infinite library of the universe is in your own mind. The external world is simply the suggestion,. All knowledge therefore, secular or spiritual is in the human mind

Vivekananda points out the Western type of human excellence based on human dignity, self-confidence, strength and social welfare, which concentrate on the external development of man. But he also points out the Indian concept of human excellence, which concentrates on the inner spiritual development of man. Synthesizing the best elements of the two, Vivekananda proclaims the secret of true human excellence in terms of the combination of ‘manliness (Western) and man making (spirituality Indian)

Einstein was a genius in that he used more parts of his brain than those simply available for rational thinking. He shunned traditional methods and often commented on those that uselessly clung to it. In giving advice for learning, he suggested opening the universe of the mind. Einstein had problems with traditional learning methods, which drove him to the use of his creative side of the brain
