As you can guess from the schedule for the upcoming week, I will away for some vacation. This time, Im riding bicycle from Philadelphia, PA, to Richmond, VA, over the course of a week. Ill be gone from Monday, September 24th, until late Tuesday, October 2nd. My friend Jesse McCormack and I will be biking together. Well be passing through Washington, D.C., and hope to ride about 370 miles before the weeks end. Please pray for our good health, safety, for a lack of mechanical problems, and for favorable weather. It would be nice if it didnt rain every day on this trip. It seems as if my pedaling stirs up rainclouds! You can follow my updates from along the route at https:// twitter.com/jsignal. The updates also appear on the parish web site. Thanks, by the way, to everyone who chipped in for my Garmin GPS Cycling Computer (a Christmas gift last year). Ive been making good use of it all year. On this trip it will keep me from getting lost, help me stay informed about where my buddy Jesse is along the road (usually way in front of me), and record my ride statistics. In my absence, Fr. Justin Reis from Columbus, Ohio, will be here next weekend to talk about Unbound, an organization that helps http://www.holyrosarystanley.com Office: 701-628-3405, [email protected] Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church 426 2nd St SE PO Box 159 Stanley, ND 58784 Saint Ann Church 217 Dewey St. NW PO Box 401 Berthold, ND 58718

Congratulations to Michael and April Bacor on the baptism of their son, Gabriel, on Saturday. Welcome to the Church, Gabriel! Next weekend, please welcome Rev. Justin J. Reis who will be with us to celebrate Masses and tell us about the work of Unbound, a lay Catholic sponsorship ministry that helps children and elderly in 18 developing countries, To learn more, call (800) 875-6564 or visit Unbound online at www.unbound.org Katie Jacobson’s Conversion Story: The Christian Mothers are sponsoring a talk by Katie Jacobson at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church on Friday, September 28th, at 7 pm. As a young Evangelical Protestant, Katie hated Catholicism. Later, as a theology student, she explored different denominations and religions. She considered them all, but found herself, against all odds, coming home to Catholicism. Join us to hear her powerful testimony. Refreshments will be served. St. Anthony Fall Festival: Join us in New Town on Sept. 30th, from 4 to 7 p.m. , for a turkey dinner, raffle, and silent auction. Holy Rosary’s Parish Feast Day falls on October 7th each year. This year, because that day is a Sunday, the feast is not liturgically celebrated. But, we’re still going to celebrate! Join us for coffee and donuts after the 8:30 a.m. Mass on October 7th. Then, in the evening, join us for the Living Rosary at 7:30 p.m. in the church. Living Rosary will take place at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church on Sunday, October 7th, at 7:30 p.m. Join us to pray the Rosary in honor of our parish’s feast day.

Respect Life Fair in Minot: Our Lady of Grace in Minot is hosting a Respect Life Fair on Sunday, Oct. 7, from 8:30 a.m. to noon in honor of human life. Area organizations will have displays promoting the dignity of life, including Dakota Hope Clinic, Men’s Winter Refuge, Minot Right to Life. Our Lady of Grace Knights of Columbus, Council 4894, will sponsor a freewill breakfast during this fair. The net proceeds will go to St. Gianna’s Maternity Home. Representatives of St. Gianna’s will be on hand as Fr. Bruce dedicates a classroom and nursery to St. Gianna. Everyone is welcome. Pam Tebow, mother of NFL Player Tim Tebow, is speaking at the First Choice Clinic annual “Friends Night Out” in Bismarck at the Ramkota Hotel on Tuesday, Oct. 9. Pam Tebow’s notoriety increased when Tim won the Heisman Trophy and ESPN aired an interview that focused on her refusal to abort him when she was advised to do so. The event includes an opportunity to socialize, meet staff, enjoy appetizers and hear the speaker. Contact Mona at 701-237-6530 for reservations.

25 Amazing Things Too Many Catholics Don’t Know About the Knights of Columbus

#10 The Knights of Columbus Fortune 1000 Insurance Company was born out of Father McGivney’s vision to help protect Catholic

families from financial ruin. As a seminarian, his father died unexpectedly.

Father McGivney was convinced that there had to be a way to help other Catholic families facing similar financial troubles. He established the K of C insurance system that has evolved into a top-rated insurance program, with over $100 billion of life insurance in force.

Maintaining our Roofs

… in Stanley

As you can see from the photos to the

right, both the church and the rectory buildings are in need of new shingles. As mentioned in the last several bulletins, roofers have been hired to install a stone coated steel roof on both structures, for a total cost of $116,370. The roofers hope to be on site as soon as October 1st.

If you would like to donate to help defray the costs of this project, drop your donations in the regular offertory, marked as a donation for “roof replacement,” or drop your donations at the parish office. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to visit with me.

… in Berthold

Likewise, in Berthold, the church shingles are in need of replacement. They are frequently blowing off on the south and western sides, despite repeated patching, and we are concerned about leaks. Numerous bids have been received. The parish council will meet to narrow our options before presenting them to the parish as a whole. Again, please start considering how much you will be able to give to support this project. In Berthold, our savings are rather limited. Your generosity will be required to fix this problem.
