Bikes Empower strives to increase the quality of life of women in brothels through a bike shop on the outskirts of the Sonagachi district of Calcutta which will provide bamboo bikes and bike support. The bikes will provide the customers with a mode of sustainable transportation that they can use to get to a job or go to school; the bike will increase the role of women by offering them independence and economic stability. Within the US, a partnership will be set up with local bike shops and the shop in India to provide funds, supplies, and awareness. Bikes Empower’s passion is essentially to help bring back dignity and community acceptance for women trapped in prostitution.
Mission Statement
OBJECTIVESTo obtain financial support and sponsors to help with our start-up costs and get our company running. To develop a loyal customer base that will not only buy our products, but serve as agents of change to expand our movement.To establish trust through our bike shop in India and obtain at least 25 women and their families to be part of the program in year one.
To sell 300 water bottles, 150 sunglasses minimum plus 50 memberships a year.
PRODUCTS AND SERVICES
BE’s services in India will consists of a series of programs that will help the women of the brothels attain a better future: -Employment package- Our employers will help the women individually find jobs.- Basic educational services and empowerment classes - Community programs with bike racing and bike fun to promote unity.
