Welcome to the 2015 Be-A-Star Program: Spotlight On Us
Compass Group has succeeded for 20 years by keeping the focus on our customers and giving them our very best, every day. When a milestone year rolls around, it calls for a celebration of our company and our people. This year’s Be-A-Star theme, Spotlight On Us, centers on the inclusive word “Us.” It says that every associate is essential to our company’s growth and prosperity. We can all share the spotlight, and enjoy the rewards of the team approach that has helped us lead the industry for two decades.
The Be-A-Star program gives you goals that will help you be successful, while offering you the opportunity to be recognized for being the best. Star Achievements are tasks aligned with your division’s MAP objectives and other goals. The program consists of 3 Star periods, aligned with the first three quarters of the fiscal calendar. In the fourth quarter, results are tallied, and national winners are determined. Challenge yourself and your team to exceed expectations, and you may be among the winners!
You can access your program instructions, find support, upload submissions and claim Stars right here on the Be-A-Star website. We’ve done our best to make it simple and to give you links to everything you’ll need. Please help us keep it ‘green’ by completing and submitting all reports and forms electronically.

Dear Flik Team,
Every year Be-A-star rolls out and we ask much of you to complete the program. This year’s program asks the most important things. We ask that you get involved. All teams need input from all participants, and one way to do that is to nominate, nominate, nominate! Along with the nominations we are looking to always grow, and we do that by investing in our people. Star one’s focus is on our people, star two is on safety and our communities and star 3 is best practices and diversity. Sharing Best Practices
Sharing best practices is a good way to improve performance by replicating successes throughout an organization. Other benefitsinclude:
• raisingtheoverallqualityofservice;• avoidingduplicationofeffortor“reinventingthewheel”;• minimizingthetimetoredoworkbecauseofpoorquality;and• costsavingsthroughincreasedproductivityandefficiency.
Sharing internal best practices (BPs) can be an important adjunct to other improvement approaches, many of which focus on identifying and solving problems. Initiatives that promote internal BPs focus on what people are doing right, raise morale and make achieving excellence possible. These types of bottom-up approaches also encourage more learning within the organization, such as setting standards. Much more can be accomplished if an organization develops systematic processes to identify and share the practices that work best for them.
Thereisnouniversallyaccepteddefinitionofabestpractice.Ataminimum,abestpracticemust:
1.demonstrateevidenceofsuccess;2.affectsomethingimportant(e.g.,contributetotheorganization’smissionorprogramgoals,orbottomline);and3. have the potential to be replicated or adapted to other settings.
How to get credit:Complete the Star 3 Achievement 1 submission form
Award:The winning best practice will be implemented in accounts that it works in best. The creator of the best practice wil be given credit and allowed to teach other units how to replicate its success.
