Describe the arts and/or cultural activity or project you are seeking funds for. Indicate if this is a new activity.

The Backyard Farm Tour, is a self guided tour of the Local Food Movement. Backyardfarmtourists visit carefully selected farms and gardens. People are thinking deeper about the food they eat and desire to learn more about it. It is a fun and educational event. For Tourists this could be a unique way to see our area, and maybe even see where food for restaurants they may be eating at is produced. The BYFT strongly promotes doing the tour by bicycle and is a natural draw for cycling tourists.

Bend Cultural Tourism Fund: 2015 Letter of Intent

What are the activity months? The BYFT takes place in September. The BYFT is a late summer event as plant growth is then at a peak. In 2014, for the first time in our 5 year history, the BYFT took place after Labor Day. This worked well and its in the shoulder season too! If you know, how will you measure the impact of your activity? We could say by the people we meet and ideas about local food sustainability that

we get across. Also we can talk about the money we raised for non-profits. Those are important, but they only happen in proportion to amount of participation we have. We do bring people into to our area too, which obviously is your goal. Recognition of the BYFT by the community by the media exposure we have enjoyed(Bend Bulletin front page, KTVZ, The Source, KPOV), helps with participation too.Grant Request Anticipated: $2,000 Total Project Budget $2,000

The Tower Theatre Foundation, in association with local vocal music leaders, is planning to launch a 3 day A Cappella Festival in 2016. The purpose will be to bring together performers, educators, and enthusiasts from across the NW and Northern CA to enjoy and showcase vocal music. Three primary festival components will provide: performance opportunities for regional singing groups; seminars and networking for group leaders and singers; and performances by nationally known a cappella groups. What are the activity months? Tentative dates are February 19-21, 2016. These dates were selected based on our current knowledge of collegiate a cappella events and regional/national competitions in 2016. If further research uncovers conflicts with other events, alternative dates could be earlier in February, early April or early May. If you know, how will you measure the impact of your activity? Festival enrollment will capture registrant’s home addresses. Discount codes, with

local lodging providers, will also capture festival attendee information. As some performances will be ticketed, and most are expected to be purchased online, this will be another opportunity to capture information. In addition, direct contact will be made with vocal groups and choruses from around the NW and northern California to gauge early indications of interest in, and attendance for, the festival.Grant Request Anticipated: $23,500 Total Project Budget $50,000

We believe that Bend, OR is a hub of creativity and not only an outdoor lovers dream, but a place where artists find inspiration that is special and different than any where else in our country. A film documenting two local creative forces (wilderness and Helg, or TBD) traveling across our country on a road less traveled (US2 comes to mind) showcasing what it is we offer, and how alive the culture and arts are here, as well as in less traveled parts of our country. What are the activity months? Filmed in the summer months, creating an awareness of the ambition and creativity of our community, much like the awareness created for Omaha, Nebraska in the early 2000's with the birth of Saddle Creek Records, or previously great bands/artists out of the PNW hosted by Kill Rockstars or Sub Pop. These Artists and musicians created an identity for their region that persists and inspires people to move to these places in pursuit of inspiration If you know, how will you measure the impact of your activity? 15. The Workhouse Cari Dolyniuk

Describe the arts and/or cultural activity or project you are seeking funds for. Indicate if this is a new activity.

The Workhouse sits in the historically relevant former center of industry, Bend Iron Works site. With over 40 working artists currently making the Ironworks their home, we aim to become a relevant center for local arts and culture. Our project is new, aims to be ongoing and long term, and incorporates interpretive historical markers, exterior art pieces, (think Tin Pan Alley), and the continued relationship with the GetIt shuttle, a company that provides cultural and historical tours of Bend. What are the activity months? The Workhouse and 3 other arts related businesses of The Old Ironworks Arts District operate year round, as do the Get It Shuttle Tours. Our hope would be to enhance the shoulder months by offering a deeper experience of Bend culture- both from an historical context as well as the emerging arts culture, while continuing to offer culturally and historically exciting and relevant activity to tourists in the off season. If you know, how will you measure the impact of your activity? The impact of our activities will be measured by following our sales, social media and

internet analytics. These analytics provide demographical information that can be quite specific in regards to who is spending money and how much. Additionally, we will be able to measure by tracking the number of tours that are booked and comparing those numbers to that of years past. We also keep a mailing list, which can be expanded to include information gathering questions. Grant Request Anticipated: $20,000 Total Project Budget $20,000

What are the activity months?

Bend Cultural Tourism Fund: 2015 Letter of Intent

It is anticipated that the opera will be presented in three performances during the spring shoulder season months of April and May 2016. If you know, how will you measure the impact of your activity? The impact of the opera will be measured by audience attendance, with a ticketing

process that captures ticket purchasers home location. This data will assist in determining the economic impact, since out-of-area attendees are likely to use overnight lodging and restaurants, and visit retailers while in Bend. Further, the project partners will help to generate interest and visibility via their demographics: music director Michael Gesme, composer Rebecca Oswald and Opera Bend.Grant Request Anticipated: $20,000 Total Project Budget $246,350

Creating compelling videos showcasing arts/culture-focused activities in Bend to use for promotion of the area in the shoulder season & to attract return visitors to the area for years to come.

Highlight unique experiences (arts, historic tours, music, events, businesses in the Maker's District) in videos that can be used online and for social media purposes. Ads for local businesses could be sold as "pre-roll ads" for each video to boost their exposure & increase revenue for Cultural Tourism. What are the activity months? Producing vídeos can take place at anytime during the year, but I can pinpoint what we would highlight in our videos to attract people during local's season.

For example: we get some big name artists at venues like the Tower Theatre. I can produce a video on the Tower that then can be used to promote upcoming shows throughout the year. Seeing is believing. A video can get people to drive 3 hours to come see a show at the Tower, just as we drive to PDX to see a show at the Crystal Ballroom.

If you know, how will you measure the impact of your activity? The impact of my videos can be tracked by web traffic such as video plays and shares

on social media. Video marketing is extremely powerful, there are tons of stats out there, but I think this article shows what video content could do for Cultural Tourism in Bend: (Go to: What’s the Payoff for Online Marketing Video?)

http://www.videobrewery.com/blog/18-video-marketing-statisticsVideo increases people's trust and interest in companies and they could do the same for Cultural Tourism in Bend.

We send out follow-up surveys to all of our MUSE Conference attendees and
