The Counter

This is and remains the eye-catcher of your library. You welcome your users here and also say goodbye. In future library concepts, too, the counter will play a central role. A counter has high functional, ergonomic and design de-mands and thereby underlines the statement of a modern workbench in the information age: this is a place from peo-ple for people.

Our new System Counter INFORM is informative: not only through friendly personnel, but also with the help of inte-grated presentation modules. Folder cabinets enable an organized presentation of event tips, presentation cabi-nets show new acquisitions.

INFORM is on form: its modular construction allows a very individual adaptation to functional and design re-quirements, as well as to architectural conditions. You will be able to reconstruct and add on, today and in years to come. You may sit or stand, can electrically adjust your ideal working height, and can book via RFID.

INFORM is fit for a new generation of service-oriented libraries.

INFORM is a modular piece of furniture. Straight and rounded elements can be used as single counters or may be randomly combined. The spe-cial design of the table tops and side walls create a continuous surrounding frame which unites the single elements into an expressive optical unit. You can combine modules in seating height (740 mm) and standing height (1000 mm). Elements with electro-engine provide continuous height-adjustment.

Table tops 800 mm deep and 40 mm thick as well as side walls frame the back-leaping wooden fronts with closed base boards. Alternatively, there are wooden fronts with bag trays available or acrylic glass fronts with indirect light upon request. Stability is gained under the counter by reset metal feet with special consideration of the required legroom.

Your individual scope of design and functional requirements is well supported by accessory op-tions such as counter screens, counter top parts, bag trays, cabinet and presentation modules, office containers, computer consoles, cable channels and monitor arms.

Rectangular Counter

INFORM’s rectangular modules form the basis for a straight design. A single counter itself is already an ideal solution for small rooms. Our rectangular counter can be combined with corner counter, circle seg-ment counter, advisory counter, lift counter and the complete accessory programme. Combining different heights for seating and standing is pos-sible with our step counter from page 11.

True comfort and more freedom

of moveThe monitor is a central part of the booking counter. A

monitor arm definitely improves the required functions

at the counter. You will have more freedom to work

and will gain space on the working top. The monitor

is easily adjustable and can also be turned towards

the client.A special drilling for the cable conduct will be made to

ensure a reliable installation. Thereby all cables will

run under the counter top, and if required, the monitor

arm can also be removed and exchanged against our

standard cable conduct outlet.

Lift Counter

Changing from seating to standing while your work is good for your health. Both ways have their advantages:We are comfortable and concentrated while sitting. Standing discharges our back, we are at eye level with our customers, keep eye contact and are much flexible to move in physical work and when handling books.

With our electro-driven lift counter and its continuous height adjustment, it is now up to you to decide how you want to work and to simply push the button for the desired height between 680 mm and 1180 mm. Even if you decided for a complete standing counter, our lift counter modules will give you the advantage to adjust the individual working height for each workstation separately. This will also apply for a counter at seating height.Besides all these general ergonomic features, our lift counter is particularly distinguished by its very safe and customer-oriented functional design.It comes as a double construction with a closed, height-adjustable body which is framed by a second ground-touching enclosure and thereby excludes possible safety risks such as squashes or bruises in a reliable manner.

A customer-oriented attachment which is integrated into the module can be used as bag tray or as prominent presenta-tion for folders and media.

Why not vary your working heights? INFORM offers the possibility of combining seated and standing work in one counter system. Through this change option, these variations offer a standard seated workplace on the one hand and on the other, the employee will be at eye level with the user while booking or advising.

Counter Top PartWhen you are interested in concentrated work and where the handling of media is secondary, a counter top part is the perfect and sensible supplement to a rectangular counter. The top part was designed for single use as well as for additions. An additional height of 260 mm adds up to a standing counter height of 1000 mm. While matching the successful design of the new system counter INFORM, this high desk also offers attractive options for research, combined with the ergonomics of offset keyboard and monitor levels. A lockable case hosts the CPU for which sufficient ventilation is provided by the recoiling base and the sophisticated air and cable conduct. The monitor may be placed at random; alternatively a console is available for mounting on the furniture (see page 21). This piece of furniture can be placed free-standing as it can be equipped with a back in a different colour.

Of course, our office furnishings such as desks or organizing containers are

also highlights in employee offices. They match the shelving systems perfectly

in colour and shapes. Even table legs are available in two variants as are the

shelves. Sight protectors can be installed at the sides or longitudinally at the tables.

And the best about it: when mounted upright these blinds make a visible optical

division between the workstations; and if mounted downright they convert your

table into a small counter.

Reading Desk Series INFORM

Of course, we cannot re-invent the reading desk, but we can re-design it! Usually a table has four legs but not in this case. That’s what makes it remarkable and extraordinary. The design of the frame strictly follows the clear lines of our new system counter INFORM. The surrounding design of table surface and side panels as well as the offset front fulfil all constructional requirements of a desk and have been reduced to the fundamentals. That’s what makes it beautiful. Our light doesn’t bend.

There are numerous table lamps on the market. Also in DIY

superstores. And it can happen that the bulbs you need will

be more expensive than the lamp itself. Crazy! But definitely

not suitable for libraries because constantly broken. Therefore

we created and designed our own lamps. Stable lamps for the

library! And they have the correct light which ophthalmologists

recommend and they come with an energy-saving technology

They prefer lying. Newspapers have a large format

and are not very stable. The more you fold them,

the more room they need. Only folding them once

and placing them in an open, lettered shelf, is the

This is how it works:

A copy of the magazine front-page is placed

underneath the transparent foil of the front flap.

The current magazine is placed on the bent edge

of the front flap (not under the foil). Open front flap

and push in. Now you have both hands free for

Querbox® for magazines in the shelf, model ZQB Our flexible alternative to presenting and storing magazines in a magazine cabinet. The metal magazine box can be placed in any location in a book shelf with at least 250 mm shelf board depth. Minimum space between the shelf boards 325 mm. Fixing comes through stops at the front and back edges for shelf boards with a board depth of 250 mm. The front flap is used for presenting the current issue of the magazine. A survey among library users about their idea of a

good library has revealed that an easy orientation

is most important for all.

We have created simple systems which will help

you in your library. And it is really not that difficult:

a large sign at the entrance or in the stairwell,

foyer, etc. with all necessary information on floors,

subjects, areas. And the same again on every other

floor if desired.

All areas have smaller signs or standing info-

boards with arrows respectively indications to

hidden areas. The shelves themselves have front-

side lettering or show the subject on the covering

shelf board and a last hint on the board itself. Easy,

isn’t it?

If your library was ever visited by a large school class during winter time and maybe it was raining, too, you will know what it looked like then.We have addable wardrobe boards which will prepare you well for this type of rush.It is the requirements of your library for which we particularly designed this board. It comes with 27 rounded and safe hooks and takes about half a meter of room. They are totally from thick metal and therefore no cheap plastic will ever break. And we didn’t use sheet metal but finest, polished stainless steel so that neither lacquer will chip off nor will rust occur. The complete board is fixed on the wall with only two holes – there are systems on the market which wear out your walls and your caretaker by requiring two holes per hook.

Books to travel

Book trolleys belong to the most important working tools in a library. We have taken a closer look at the working processes with existing book trolleys and wanted to make a change:

It was our goal to create a book trolley which avoids the strenuous sideward bend in order to reach for the books. We built a trolley where books are placed safely and stable on slanted boards, with clear indications which are not distributed on two different sides and for which you do not have to turn your head to the side. The books are easy to access and can be placed in the shelf with only a short turn of your body. This trolley is not clumsy at all when moving fully loaded from one shelf row to the other and it can be easily turned on the spot and it has the handle at the perfect for small as well as tall employees. It’s a truly ergonomic trolley!

Return Systems for the Interior and Exterior

Free-Standing Media Returning System CORBISStationary, lockable returning system. It comes with a metal case which is suitable for interior and covered exterior use. Has a solid metal drawer on one side where media will be inserted. The bottom lowers when closed and the media slide over a slanted plane into the attached spring-floor container.Once the container is full or has been removed for emptying, the drawer is automati-cally locked. The display indicates red. Attaching the empty container into the case will unlock the drawer. The display shows green. The system operates exclusively on a mechanical basis; no electricity required.

Case: lacquered metal, incl. fastening material on the floor, W 600 mm, D 1200 mm, H 1330 mm. Reversible door hinges. Stainless steel version upon request.

Wooden surfaces are either directly plastic-coated or covered with an HPL laminated plastic, depending on their application. Differences in colour underline the characteristics of solid wood surfaces and cannot be avoided. Solid wood changes its colours under the influence of light. Table and work surfaces with solid wood veneer have only limited abrasion resistance. We recommend our highly resistant plastic decors for these types of surfaces. We use environmental-friendly lacquers for our solid wood surfaces.
