CROSS FRAME DETAILS

CURVED GIRDERS

NOTES TO DESIGNER:

Cross Frames detailed on standard are as follows: (Use V-Type cross frames up to a maximumangle of 60°.)

CF11: V-Type, Typical Intermediate Diaphragm.

CF14: X-Type, Typical Intermediate Diaphragm.

The preferred option is to detail cross frames radially. Cross frames, including connections, shallbe designed in accordance with AASHTO Guide Specifications for Horizontally Curved SteelGirder Highway Bridges, 2003 or the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specification as required forthe project. All welded connections shall be at least 6” in the direction of the applied stress.

 ADD THE FOLLOWING NOTES, DIMENSIONS, DETAILS, ETC. TO STANDARD:

CF11:

 Add plate sizes, angle sizes, weld size, and specify number of bolts as needed based on designcalculations. In Section A-A, uniform bolt spacing is shown. The designer may consider detailinga staggered spacing to reduce the effects to the net section.

CF14:
