BCCM Ensemble Auditions 2021
Saxophone
Please be prepared to play the following at your audition. You may use
any voice of the saxophone family. It is recommended that you audition
on the alto saxophone if possible. Placements will be made based off
1. Major Scales - You will be asked to play 1-3 major scales. Please play
them full range, all slurred, at a tempo that best represents your
technique.
2. Chromatic Scale - Play one chromatic scale starting on Low D, up to
High F/F#, and ending on Low Bb. Slurred at your best, most
accurate tempo.
3. Excerpts on following pages. Start with #1.
4. Sight reading
Concerto for Alto Saxophone—Lars-Erik Larsson
Sonata #1 for Flute—Anna Bonn di Venzia * Please note that this piece has no articulations or other musical
markings. You will need to add your own based on the late baroque or early classical style. This excerpt is
from the “Adagio” movement. Please note that grace notes were sometimes played as an appoggiatura.
Harkstow Grange is the second movement of Lincolnshire Posy by Percy Grainger. It is
traditionally played with rubato. Please be sure to study recordings and arrive at your own
interpretation.
