Contact Information Please provide Head Coach and Manager names, home/cell numbers, and email addresses. Mandatory Equipment Checks The RCM will do an equipment check before the start of each team’s first game and randomly after that time. Players with illegal/worn equipment will not be able to participate using the illegal equipment. Bring extra helmet screws, gloves and tape. Ensure your local Risk Management Coordinator or District Director does an equipment check with your team before coming to the championships to avoid any disappointments. Most frequent illegal equipment findings: glove palms, helmet fit and J hooks, stick plugs and neck guards with BNQ certification not clearly visible. Goalie helmets must have chin cups and side straps.

ABOUT PORT ALBERNI

Welcome to the Alberni Valley. It’s a little piece of paradise, a nature lover’s dream, with so much to do right in our backyard. There are a wide variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, fishing, boating, windsurfing, zip- lining, mountain climbing, mountain biking, farm visits and more. Take a leisurely stroll through the forest on the Log Train Trail which passes right through town. Its many access points allow for 15 minute strolls to a few hours of walking amongst pastoral farmland, gullies, waterfalls, etc. We are fortunate to have top of the line sports venues, along with cultural venues such as the Rollin Art Centre which displays work from the valley’s multitude of talented artists. The Capitol Theatre, Char’s Landing, and others showcase the musical and acting talents that abound here as well. The Alberni Valley Museum has one of the best displays of local First Nations people, along with displays of first settlers’ lifestyles. In season, you can take the 35 minute steam train ride to McLean Mill the only steam-operated sawmill in Canada and watch raw logs cut into lumber. Visit the Maritime Discovery Center in an old lighthouse to hear tales of heroism on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. One of our most striking features is the Alberni Inlet, which connects to the Broken Group of Islands, a great location for kayaking or diving. Both freshwater and saltwater fishing is excellent. Just north of Port Alberni is Stamp River and Stamp Falls with incredible Chinook and steelhead fishing. South of Port Alberni is China Creek Marina, with a private campground and boat launch. Sproat Lake is great for rainbow trout fishing, and features the famous Mars Water Bombers. These are just some of the things you can experience as you explore the beautiful Alberni Valley. One of the Alberni Valley’s greatest assets is its people. If you’re wondering where to eat, what to see, just ask anyone, they will gladly point you in the right direction. We sincerely hope you enjoy your stay here in the valley and that you come back and visit us again soon.
