Muhummad Yunus is a Bangladeshi economist and founder of the Grameen Bank, an institution that provides small loans with no collaterals to help support those people in need financially

• They were living in harsh conditions and this is when Muhummad Yunus translated his vision to reality and started to take on measures to help these people suffering from poverty

He realises that actually a small amount of money rendered to these people in need creates a great impact to their life

Started his social business by borrowing money from different banks and gave it to those poor people. He ensured there was repayment by lending money to poor people in groups with each member being co-guarentors.

Wanted to put an end to those poor people suffering from poverty and stop them from borrowing from money lenders who charged them high interests in exchange.

• He was presented the Nobel Prize, instead of keeping the money to himself, he generously donated all of it to set up an eye care hospital and remaining to build a company that creates high nutrition food for the poor.

His Contributions & Impacts Ever since Grameen company has been set up,

many other sub comapanies of it has been created. E.g Grameen Phone, Grameen Agriculture Foundation etc…

The Village Phone project of Grameen Phone has brought cell-phone ownership to 260,000 rural poor in over 50,000 villages since the beginning of the project in March 1997.

Many other major projects such as  Grameen Trust and Grameen Fund has all been created so as to improve the lifes of these people suffering in poverty.
