I maintained consistency within my practicum placement, arriving to the school on time, having a positive

attitude in carrying out all required tasks and following through guiding students in their daily work. I completed

all tasks, giving each one equal importance.

In working with students I consistently used PBIS (positive behavior intervention strategies) which has been

implemented within the Oshkosh area school District.

Students I worked with felt confident that they could ask me for help, I used strategies to help each learner

complete required assignments, using teaching strategies which work well for that particular student.

Students in the third grade class were comfortable with me being in the classroom to the point they were

surprised when I worked in a different area of the school.

I consistently worked with individual students during independent reading. I helped students who had English

as a second language by teaching them how to look for context clues, as well as helping them with new words

for which they had no background knowledge.

I followed the teacher’s direction in in making adaptations for individual students’ assignments, occasionally a

student would ask me if I could cross out a problem in their math Journal, I would tell them that was up to their

teacher.

What do you consider to be your major strengths as a prospective instructional assistant?

I feel that my strengths as a prospective instructional assistant having a firm grasp on the developmental

stages of child development, and understanding what appropriate expectations for students are, and the ability

to work well with individual students and students within small groups.

In what areas would you like to grow as an Instructional Assistant?

I am not as comfortable working with a large group as I am with individual students or small groups. During by

practicum I worked primarily with individual students and small groups of students, I am sure that with

experience that would feel more competent working with students in large groups.
