Choose a magazine that caters for music in a similar genre to the one

you would like to do for your magazine. Who publishes it? Would it be

an appropriate publisher for your music magazine? What target

audiences does it cater for? What other music magazines does it

publish?

The magazine I have chosen that is going to be similar to my genre of music magazine is Q magazine;

this is published by Bauer Media. The Bauer Media Group (Bauer Verlagsgruppe) is a large German

publishing company based in Hamburg, which operates in 15 countries worldwide. Since the company

was founded in 1875, it has been privately-owned and under management by the Bauer family with

over 6000 employees and a turnover of over £1.5billion for the company. This publisher would be very

appropriate for my magazine because they are well known in the media department and also have

published music magazines before therefore they have got experience. The target audiences that

Bauer Media caters for are both men and women, along with people with lifestyle factors such as

gardening, transport, football, gold, photography and also some types of charity work. I think that the

age for most of the magazines are the older generation as Bauer hasn’t yet published any magazines

specifically for the younger generation. The other magazines that Bauer has published that are music

magazines Pop and Kerrang, Kerrang is also one of the most popular music magazines around.

Kerrang delivers the hottest news, reviews, gig guides, exclusive features, posters, videos and more

every week.
