Early Years Foundation StageWe love to read to children and sharing books from an early age is crucial to your child’s learning and development.Reading to your child helps support their listening skills and promotes language development. Children can learn about the world around them through books.

We will share stories with your child in Nursery and Reception class on a daily basis and we have a well-resourced book area in both classes.

We aim that children are familiar and know stories by heart by the end of the foundation stage and can talk about the main characters, events and settings and are able to answer how and why questions about the stories.

You can borrow books from our school libraries and we suggest that you and your child become a member of Batley Library. You can also get good quality picture books from cheap book shops and Charity shops.
