Bath County is located in the Allegheny Mountains in west-central Virginia. It isbounded by the West Virginia state line. The county is known for its naturalbeauty and its unique way of life associated with an abundance of warmnatural springs. The county's economy is primarily tourist-oriented.

The county has a comprehensive plan, a zoning and a subdivision ordinance.
Warm Springs is the county seat. There are no incorporated towns within thecounty.

Bath County Community Hospital, located in Hot Springs, is a 25-bedfull-service medical facility that offers 24-hour emergency care. Countyresidents also utilize the Alleghany Regional Hospital. This 214-bed facility,located in Alleghany County, offers full-service general and acute medical carethat includes 24-hour emergency services.
Three physicians and two dentists maintain practices in Bath County.
Bath County has a 90-bed nursing home. The county operates a public library.A monthly bookmobile service is available to serve residents throughout thecounty.
There are 30 churches representing the leading Protestant denominations andthe Catholic faith located in the county. A Jewish synagogue is located inStaunton.
A variety of arts and crafts and specialty shops are located near The OmniHomestead Resort in Hot Springs. Extensive shopping facilities are availablein the nearby cities of Clifton Forge, Covington, Lexington, Roanoke, andStaunton.

As a major tourist destination, Bath County offers residents, as well as visitors,vast recreational opportunities. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy a variety ofwater sports including boating, swimming, skiing, and fishing at Douthat StatePark and Lake Moomaw in the George Washington National Forest. Both thestate park and the national forest offer camping facilities, hiking, andpicnicking. Throughout the national forest and the Gaithright WildlifeManagement Area, hunting is excellent in season for deer, bear, and wildturkey. Because of the superb hunting opportunities, many hunt clubs haveheadquarters in Bath County.
Bath County's close proximity to the Virginia Horse Center, Washington & LeeUniversity, and Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, enables residents toenjoy the many cultural and sporting events held at these institutions.
The world-renowned Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, offers a varietyof recreational activities that include golf, tennis, skiing, horseback riding, andskeet shooting. Because of its excellent facilities, the resort hosts both stateand national golf tournaments, tennis matches, and bowling tournaments.
The county operates three playing fields, three tennis courts, three gyms, anda swimming pool and offers a variety of public recreational programs.
Annual community events include the Bath County Horse Show, the BathCounty Art Show, the Eden Apple Butter Festival, the Bath County Fourth ofJuly Sellabration, the Taste of Bath, and the Bass at Bath Fishing Tournament.
The Omni Homestead Resort has beenproviding luxurious accommodations topresidents, princes, and sportsenthusiasts since 1766.
