BASIC PARTS OF A TABLE
Tables have vertical columns (identified by a letter) and horizontal rows (identified by a number).
A cell, or “box,” is created where a column and a row intersect.
Tables formatted with borders all around are called boxed tables.

BASIC PARTS OF A TABLE (cont’d) Tables formatted with no borders are called
open tables. Center a table vertically when it appears
alone on the page. Center a table horizontally if the cell widths
have been adjusted automatically to fit the contents.

TITLE—Center and type in all caps and bold. If there is no subtitle, insert 1 blank line after the title.
SUBTITLE—Center on the line below the title, and type in upper- and lowercase letters and bold. Press Enter 1 time to insert a blank line below the subtitle.

HEADING BLOCK—Title and subtitle.
COLUMN HEADINGS—Center or left-align (for text), or right-align (for numbers). Align vertically at the bottom. Type in upper- and lowercase letters and bold.
COLUMN ENTRIES—Align text entries at the left; align number entries at the right. Capitalize only the first word and proper nouns. Add spaces after the dollar sign to align with widest column entry below.
