Why Mercury Removal is necessary ?

� To prevent corrosion and cracking of material.

� It’s hazard material when it accumulates in equipment, particularly during

plant turnarounds where equipment or piping is opened for inspection or

maintenance.

� In combination with water, CO2 is highly corrosive and rapidly destroys the

pipelines and equipment

� Presence of CO2 reduces the heating value of natural gas stream

� Presence of CO2 reduces pipeline capacity
