Designing Learning MaterialsDesigning Handouts:TextThe level of the text in your handout must be suitable for your target group. You should consider the following:Paragraphs Keep them short. Each paragarph should contain one main idea.Sentences Short sentences are generally easier to read. On average they should be less than 20 words long.Vocabulary Keep the words short and simple. Explain technical words: add a glossary if necessary.Tone Adopt a friendly, personal and informal approach. Use the active rather than passive voice (use I, You, We, etc.). Write as if you are talking to the students. A good idea is to check on the general tone and readability of the text in your handout by asking a colleague and/or a sample of students for their opinion. Sample Word document

Was unable to resolve most technological obstacles relating to the project.
Level 4--Strong Technology
User Selected quality tools from what was available
that was appropriate to create quality a product. Technology was used in appropriate ways and
applied many of the features to create a quality product.
Technology tools were set up correctly and used appropriately without assistance following established guidelines.

Guideline for Developing PowerPoint Presentations
Designing Effective PowerPoint PresentationsKeep the Message SimpleKeep the message simple. The electronic presentation program should complement the message being delivered, not repeat everything being said.Use a maximum of seven sentences (points) per screen. The number of sentences will decrease as the font size increases.Try to limit each of those sentences to seven words.Use one line or sentence for one thought.Sample PowerPoint Poor PowerPoint
Excel AssessmentYou are required to use an Excel worksheet to complete the task below: You have are preparing the final marks for you students; their marks are based on three assessments given throughout the year. The first assessment had a total mark of 40; the second was out of 60 and third was out of 75. The marks your students obtained are given in the table below. The weighting of the final assessment is twice that of the first two assessments. You are required to compute the percentage mark for each assessment, the final mark for each student as a percentage, normalize the results for the class You are required to label your worksheet appropriately and produce a graph showing the final assessment marks of your students.
