About the display

The display consists of two rows of 16digits. If more than 15 numbers areentered, they are shifted left so thatonly the last 15 are shown.

In the programming menu the *character in front of the text line in thedisplay means the current active state,for example :

Answering a call

Lift the handset or press to answerthe call.

If the caller number is available it willbe displayed.If the caller number is found in the

phonebook, then the programmedname and number will be displayed.If no number information is provided

anonymous is displayed.

Transferring a call

During a conversation, press anddial another number.

After the 3 rd party has answered thecall, replace the handset or press

The call is now transferred to the 3 rd party.

Enquiry

During a conversation, press R anddial another number.

After the 3 rd party has answered thecall, you can retrieve the original callby pressing the R button again.

Storing a speed dial key number

Press to enter the menu.Select option 1 Phone Book followedby option 4 Add speed No.

Enter the number and press OK toconfirm. To store under the first level :

Press the desired speed dial key1 ~ 8 to store the number.See also Functions programmedunder speed dial keys

To store under the second level :Press followed by the desiredspeed dial key 1 ~ 8 to store thenumber.

The number can be 31 digits, howeverwhen connected to an iS3000 systemit is limited to 20 digits.

Functions programmed underspeed dial keys

Speed dial keys M1 ~ M8 can be pre-programmed with a dedicated functionor a (colleagues) internal telephonenumber of which the status can bemonitored by means of the LEDs.

To monitor the status :

Press to enter the menu.Select option 1 Phone Book, scrolldown to Set monitoring and selectthe required key of which you want tomonitor the status.Select Enabled.

FunctionPressing this key activates thefunction: the corresponding LED isswitched ON.Pressing the key once more de-activates the function : the LED isswitched OFF.

Telephone NumberWhen the LED is :

- OFF : the telephone is idle- Flashing : the telephone is ringing,

you can answer this call.

- ON : the telephone is the busy

Ask your system administrator formore details.

Do Not Disturb (DND)

DNDwith fall back to operator :

Press speed dial key, programmedwith the DND function (LED is ON), ordial the activate prefix.To cancel DND :Press speed dial key (LED is OFF), ordial the cancel prefix.

Ask your system administrator for both prefixes.

An alternative way ( no fall back ) is :

Press to enter the menu.Select option 3 Phone Setting, select

Do not Disturb and select either Always or By Period.The display shows # DND #

This alternative way only prevents the phone from ringing on incoming calls.This alternative way of DND can beblocked by the system administrator :if so the display shows Function Not

Checking the speed dial keynumbers

Press to enter the menu.Select option 1 Phone Book followedby option 3 View speed no.

There may be two numbers assignedto a speed dial key. The second

number is stored as number 9 ~ 16.

Checking for unanswered calls

A missed calls message on thedisplay indicates that there are newunanswered calls. The message showsthe number of new missed calls.The missed calls list can be accessedby pressing the key.Select option 2 Call history followedby option 2 Missed calls.Scroll through the list using the up anddown navigation keys.

When Call Forwarding dont Answer isactivated in, those calls will alsoappear in the Missed calls list,although those calls might have beenanswered by someone else.New unanswered calls that have notbeen reviewed yet are indicated with a

* character.

Press to exit the callers list.

T I P

To enter the missed calls list directly, press the navigation keys while themissed calls message is displayed.This will bring you directly in themissed calls list.

A maximum of 64 unanswered callswill be stored. Any additional missedcalls will replace the oldestunanswered call in the list. Onlyunanswered calls with a maximum of31 digits are available in the list.

Dialling an unanswered call

Press to enter the menu.Select option 2 Call history followedby option 2 Missed calls.

Scroll through the list using the up anddown navigation keys.

Lift the handset or press to call theselected number.

After the selected extension is called,the missed call character * iscleared.

Storing calls from the call listsin the phonebook

Press to enter the menu.Select option 2 Call history followedby desired call list, Answered calls,

Missed Calls or Placed Calls.

Scroll through the list using the up anddown navigation keys.

Press OK while the desired number isdisplayed and select option 2 Save.Enter the name and press OK

Store the entry by pressing OK again.

The name can have 31 characters.The number can be 31 digits, howeverwhen connected to an iS3000 systemit is limited to 20 digits.

Disabling the microphone in thehandset (Mute)

Press and hold the pushbutton in

the handset to mute the microphone.Whatever you say while holding thepushbutton can not be heard by theother party.

Adjusting the hands-freeloudspeaker volume

While in a hands-free call, press thenavigation up and down keys to adjustthe loudspeaker volume.

Adjusting the ringer volume

Press to enter the menu.Select option 3 Phone settingfollowed by option 5 Ringer andoption 1 Ringer volume.

Use the navigation up and down key toadjust the ringer volume.

The numbers in front of the menu items are a kind of shortcut.For example, when pressing to enter the menu, followed by digits 2, 4 and 3,you erase the missed call records directly.

The menu also includes settings related to the Network (4), SIP settings (5), NATtransvers (6) and Administrator (7), however the user is advised NOT to changethese settings : ask your system administrator.

Notice to the user

The terminal described in thismanual is intended to be connectedto a wired 10/100 T-Base local areanetwork (LAN) by means of thecable that comes with the product.

To take advantage of all features ofthis terminal, connection to asystem supporting SIP@Net fromNEC is recommended.

For an overview of the supportedfeatures, refer to the detaileddocumentation that comes with thesystem and this terminal, contactyour local NEC representative or thesupport desk of NEC UnifiedSolutions.

Important safety information

This terminal can be powered bymeans of an external AC/DCadaptor or by means of anIEEE802.3af compatible powersource that allows powering of theterminal via the same cable thatconnects the terminal to the wiredlocal area network.

Use of an external AC adaptor

Only use the dedicated King's adaptertype KSS07-060-0850 that comeswith this terminal.

Connect the power supply cord fromthe AC/DC adaptor to thecorresponding power input,identified by POWER IN

Plug the AC/DC adaptor in a walloutlet socket. It is recommendedthat the AC/DC adaptor is locatednear the equipment for easyaccess/removal of the adaptor.

After power has been applied, theterminal will start operating.

Use of an IEEE802.3af powersupply

This terminal is compliant with IEEE802.3af class 1. If the Local AreaNetwork supports powering of theterminal by means of theIEEE802.3af standard, an externalAC/DC adaptor is not needed. Inthis case it is sufficient to connectthe terminal to the 10/100 T-basewall socket by means of the cablethat comes with the product.

After network power has beenapplied, the terminal will startoperating.
