Note: The readings for the first two weeks had to do primarily with God and Gods relation to the human being (and the human beings relation to God) in Jesus Christ electing and elected, fully God, fully human (the vertical relation of faith). These next two weeks now include how this the eternal decision and movement of God to and for the human being in Gods election determines, or effects, the relations between human beings (the horizontal relation of ethics)e.g., this week, the Churchs relation to Israel/Jewish neighbor, and their mutual relation as witnessing community to the world; next week, the relation of believer to unbeliever.1. How is the Church related to Israel in Jesus Christi.e., by the two-fold form of election in the One Jesus Christ?--Put differently, how does the two-fold form of election in the One Jesus Christ determine and order the two-fold form of the one community of Gods people, as the Church and Israel? 2. How can Barths view of the way the Church is bound to Israel as the one community of Gods people be seen as:a. a strong ethical affirmation of the Jewish neighbor in the context of Nazi

and yet:

b. allow Barth to use the strongly polemical, ethically problematic language of anti-Judaism in describing Israels role as united with the Church in the one community of Gods people?
