Of Entering Livestock Details
Sum-It's livestock software has the ability to work with Barcode reading laser scanners. These simply plug in to your computer’s USB port, enabling you to be up and scanning in seconds.
Make “Light” Work
When entering the purchase of animals simply scan the barcode for the holding number of the source, which is linked to your list of customers and suppliers to automatically fill in the movement details.
The barcode reader allows you to enter animals from BCMS passports without touching your keyboard. By leaving it in its stand you just need to wave the barcode under it to wake it up and the barcode is scanned.
This eliminates the scope for making mistakes when typing in details, making your records even more traceable.
The reader can also be used to access animal records, once entered, by swiping the paper work, this will take you straight to the animal's details or, alternatively, produce a full livestock movements report for that animal.
To enter the animal’s details from the BCMS passport, scan the long bar code on the bottom of the front sheet. This fills in the animal code, UK ear tag number, date of birth, sex and breed automatically.
