Mentoring projects: farmers from the Kasamahan sa Kalikasang Pagsasaka Multipurpose Cooperative (Kakasa) will be assigned to guide and mentor two to three out of school youths in practical organic vegetable production
ORGANIC FARMING Ideal for several reasons: - demand for organically-grown vegetables is
high- requires intensive labor but does not require
much capital- The yield is premium safe produce,
without pesticides or synthetic fertilizers- It grows vegetables that stay fresh longer
apart from being tastier and more nutritious
ECONOMIC FACTORS Farmer group KAKASA (Kasamahan sa
Kalikasang Pagsasaka Multipurpose Cooperative) involves 15 active organic vegetable farmers
Fishing: 2nd most common source of income
Three coastal barangays: Santiago, Mabini and Evangelista
Fish products are sold locally, to neighboring towns and to Metro Manila by three known traders in the municipality
