    Overview

In keeping with the style of Avithos Resort and Kefalonian design, a contemporary but rustic design is proposed for the pool bar and area. Natural materials such as recycled and reclai med timber are suggested for the flooring and

many furniture items such as the bar stools, chairs and tables. A light colour scheme is proposed to reflect the sun and open the space with accents of bright colours for interest. Texture is important and will provide cont rast. The

bar proposal has been designed so that there is a seamless link between the pool area and the bar, however it will still be its own space, and this will be identified by the elevation of the bar and lounge area.

There is plenty of opportunity to use existing materials and structures, such as the deck chairs and current vertical beams. I t is suggested we source reclaimed timber from around the island for a ny decorative wall panelling or

furniture. Not only will these materials have character and charm, it is a cost effective solution as w ell as being sustainable.

The design is such that it sets the space up for a refurbishment of the restaurant at a later date if need be, and so the design can carry through into the restaurant. In fact, the actual bar could continue through the restaurant wall

and into the restaurant if need be.

The design also makes use of the currently underutilised st orage room behind the bar. It is suggested a door be installed between the bar and the storage room and this room be used for meal preparation and storage of stock.

The refurbishment of the bar area will enhance the overall Avithos Resort offering, providing guests with a relaxed and st ylish atmosphere whilst staying at Avithos Resort and therefore increasing bar revenue. A bar menu could

be incorporated into the bar offering as well as a range of cocktails and other beverages. There is also opportunity to attract n on-guests to the bar, as there are plenty of ex pats living in the a rea who like to socialise and f requent

    bars!

    Furniture, Finishes & Accessories Ideas

    Outdoor Furniture

It is proposed that local carpenters are engaged to construct the tables, chairs, bar stools etc to suit the space. It would be ideal to use recycled timber to give an earthy effect. The below images give a feel for the type of furniture suggested.Coffee tables

Restore, paint and seal timber pallets sourced from t he island. Attach industrial-style

wheels. These will be simple to construct. Suggest they be painted white.

    Lounge Chairs

Possibility to strip and paint existing deck chairs white and replace

current white canvas with a fabric in one of the accent colours.

However if new chairs are preferred, a design such as this would

    work well.

    Bar Stools

White bar stool dip dyed with one of the accent colours, as per drawing and image

    below.

    Side Tables Hanging Chairs

Suggest two of these suspended from the pergola in the new lounge

    area.

This is the idea of the dip dying. It will add colour in a fun way.

    Feature Lighting Over Bar

Suggest 3 or 4 pendants to run the length of the bar as a feature. The below pendants are suggestions.

Other lighting for bar and lounge area could include; down lights installed under bar counter, illuminating kick board, down lights installed in deck steps, down lights in pergola area.

    Bar Countertop Concrete

Relatively inexpensive, ages well and is durable. Many options for the finish; polished/grinded/raw concrete. Will give an industrial modern edge to bar, however it will be softened by the light colours and timber. The kickback (i.e. faade of the bar

could include timber panelling or Kefalonian stone).

    Bar Feature Wall Ideas

This will be the feature of the bar. It should be a neutral colour; grey or white but could have accents of the chosen colour scheme. It could display the bar logo. A textured surface is suggested with recessed shelving for display of spirits. It could be

built with an inbuilt pull down door to secure spirits overnight.

    Timber Panelling

    Ceiling/Pergola Feature

The current canvas structure steals too much height from the space, closing it in. It is suggested a new, timber, waterproof pergola be built to increase the height of the bar and lounge area.

    Accessories

    Floor Lanterns

To be placed in various areas on the deck to provide warm ambient lighting.

    Hanging Herb Garden

This will be placed at the corner of the bar, and hung fr om the

ceiling. The idea being that bar staff can cut fresh herbs from the

    hanging pots when making cocktails.

Logo disk for bar and tables

Brushed stainless steel or galvanised steel circular disks with the bar logo to be placed in

the bar counter and/or the coffee tables and dining tables.
