Welcome to our show!This event is a first for the Maryland State Fairgrounds as well as for ourselves. For quite some time we have desired to combine the collectible Japanese Swords and antiquities with the long preserved martial and cultural arts of this fascinating country.For the collector, enthusiast or culturally interested there is something for everyone at this show. This program highlights the entertainment and educational opportunities within the venue. The myriad of purchasing options will be more than apparent with items ranging from venerable ancient swords to food, tea, gifts, martial arts supplies, kimonos, crafts, bonsai, movies and more.Learn, collect, enjoy and grow!Our best wishes to all.

AUCTION Live Friday at 7 PM (AB3273)

For our first annual auction in this venue, bring your best or bring your worst! We will put it all up for auction to determine bidder interest. Our Friday night live auction in Tampa, FL has been succesfull with about 95% selling. Swords and sword parts, books, fine art, objects of art and other interesting items have always done well. Both dealers and visitors may sell or buy at this auction.

Items will be received Friday from 2:30 PM to 6 PM at the tables next to the Special Events Area so everyone can view them throughout the afternoon.

Final viewing of items for sale from 6 PM to 7 PM and sign up for your bidders number.

This is a cash auction, with all items available for pick up at the conclusion of the auction or on Saturday. If you wish to use a credit card, please arrange to do so prior to the auction. This will add 3% to your final price.

Southeast Shows and Auctions will charge a sellers fee of 10%, a buyers fee of 10% and a buy back fee of 5%.

There are no reserves for this auction.

Items of any value may be offered to determine bidder interest. You may buy your item in if interest is not strong enough.

If you want to continue working at your table you can fill out a proxy bid form with your highest bids for any items.

SPECIAL EXHIBITSPatrick Hastings-Japanese Metal WorkTables #4-8. Patrick Hastings will be presenting the art of Classical Japanese Metal Work, demonstrating techniques, and offering the opportunity for specta-tors to try out some of these techniques.

John Smith - SwordsmithTables #1-2. John Smith will have a special exhibit consisting of a collection of blades in various stages of construction and polish along with many of the tools necessary to forge and construct a sword.

Mr.Okuhara-Japanese Koshirae CraftsmanBooths #7-8. Mr. Okuhara will discuss and demonstrate the basics of saya con-struction and try to answer some questions. His specialty is in making Shirasaya and koshirae saya, he is an expert tsuka maker, tsukamakishi, and habakishi.

Chin Hamaya Culture CenterBooth #2. All kinds of activity for kids and adults: Origami, Japanese story telling, kimekomi ningyo doll making and color sheets. Even try your hand at Taiko drum-ming!

Atelier KanawaBooth #1. “Atelier Kanawa” means “the studio to produce Japanese harmony & peace”. It is run by Kuniko Kanawa, a professional Tsumami Kanzashi artisan and also a certified Kimono consultant of All Japan Kimono consultant association. You may attend her kimono dressing workshop at her booth for further study.
