STORYTIMES (No registration required)

Bouncing Babies and Books – Tuesdays year-round @ 10:30 AM (Halloween dress-up is Oct. 27) This storytime, for babies birth-24 months, will include a book, lots of singing, some musical instruments and a lot of fun for you and your baby! It’s a great way to spend time with your little one while meeting new caregivers or meeting up with old friends. Tales for 2s and 3s – Thursdays @ 10:30 am, September 17 through December 17 (Halloween dress-up is Oct. 29) A storytime specifically geared for toddlers who are 24-36 months old with a caregiver. We will read great stories, sing a lot of songs, and have plenty of music, movement, and fun! Your toddler will love meeting new storytime buddies!

Preschool Alphabet Parade – Fridays @ 10:30 am, September 18 through December 18 (Halloween dress-up is Oct. 30) Fun stories, songs, activities, and a craft for children ages 3-5 with a caregiver. We will travel through the alphabet and feature a letter each week. Children are welcome to bring an object to storytime that begins with our weekly featured letter! Family Craft Me a Story – Thursdays @ 6:30 pm: Sept. 24; Oct. 8 & 22; Nov. 5 & 19; December 3 and 17 Not able to attend storytime during the daytime? Not a problem! Head to the library for our evening family story/craft time that will be held every other week! A story, songs, musical instruments, parachute play, bubbles and a related craft at each session!

YOUTH PROGRAMS

Parachute Play Palooza – Mondays @ 10:30 am: Sept. 14, 21, 28 & October 5 / No registration required What better way to start off the week than with 30 minutes of music and fun parachute style! All ages are welcome at this four-week session! Rock that Smock Art Camp – Wednesdays @ 10:30 am: Sept. 16 through Dec. 16 / Registration required You asked and we listened! Our wildly popular summer program will continue in the fall! Each week we will feature a highlighted story, a related song and an art extension activity. Be prepared to get messy with a little paint and a lot of creativity! This program is geared to children ages 2-5, but all ages are welcome!

Beyond the Brush Art / Registration required Join local Michael’s art and craft instructor Michelle as she shares her love of artistic creativity with the community and brings her talent to the Baldwin Library! Children in grades K-5 can join Michelle as she introduces a new, exciting project each month and take home a beautiful, unique creation! Tuesdays @ 6:30 pm:

Insect Investigators with Carnegie Science Center – Saturday, October 17 @ 11 am / Registration required Children in grades K-5 can get up close and personal with a variety of insects! Learn how they eat, sleep and even play! You won’t want to miss this creepy, crawly critter program!

Book Cooks / Registration required Reading has never tasted so good! In this beginning-to-cook class, young chefs (preschool-grade 2) will develop an appetite for nutritious foods while being introduced to books that reinforce social and academic skills. FAMILY PROGRAMS Fall Family Fun Nights / Registration required Each month we will host a special-themed night for the entire family to enjoy! Dress up is optional but recommended! Wednesdays at 6:30 pm:

Minion Mania – Friday, Sept. 25 @ 6:30 pm / Registration required Bee doo! Bee doo! Bee doo! Minions Stuart, Kevin and Bob are this year’s big stars and unlikely heroes. Come to the library for a night filled with special Minion food, crafting, activities and fun! Feel free to come in costume...we will! Don’t forget your cameras! Brushes Before Bedtime Family Art Night / Registration required We are proud that the Pennsylvania Library Association recognized this program as an honorable mention for its Best Practice Awards! Join us for a night of family art using various techniques and leave with a masterpiece designed by your entire family! We will provide all of the supplies and art smocks…your family provides the creativity and fun! No age limit requirements. A “how to draw” segment will be included in each program. Wednesdays at 6:30 pm:

Hear the Beep Where You Sleep! Meet the Firefighters Night – Wednesday, Oct. 7 @ 6:30 pm / Registration required October 4-10 is Fire Prevention Week -- the firefighters from Option Independent Fire Company will be at the library to talk about their jobs, show their fire gear/equipment, educate about how to stay safe, and teach about this year’s theme of the importance of smoke detectors in the home. Free Family Movie Matinee / Registration required What could be better on a fall Saturday afternoon than a FREE NEW RELEASE family movie complete with bottomless popcorn and lemonade! Kids can bring their own pillow, sleeping bag, blanket or stuffed friend! Saturdays at 1:30 pm:

Creepy Crawly Café – Friday, Oct. 23 @ 6:30 pm / Registration required A menu of drinks, appetizers, a main entree, and dessert await your family at the Creepy Crawly Cafe, all revolving around foods that sound gross (but taste great)! Don't miss our 2nd annual fun, pre-Halloween tasty family event! Halloween Storywalk – Friday, Oct. 30 @ 7 pm / Registration required This is not just your average Halloween party. Come dressed in costume for our Halloween storywalk! Meet favorite characters at four different storywalk stations where kids will hear a story, participate in an activity, and collect goodies at each station!

Family Gingerbread House Night – Tuesday, Dec. 15 @ 6:30 pm / Registration required The whole family can enjoy a night of building, creating and decorating your own holiday gingerbread house. Please bring one can of icing and one bag of candy to share with the group. We will provide cartons, graham crackers, holiday music and hot chocolate! Merry Grinchmas – Saturday, Dec. 19 @ 10:30 am / Registration required Help the Grinch's heart grow three sizes this holiday season with some Grinch games, snacks, crafts & a "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" skit during this fun holiday family event! Bring your cameras along in case "you know who" in the jolly red suit shows up!

Family Pumpkin Decorating Contest – Oct. 1 through Oct. 16 Does your child have a favorite book or movie character...perhaps Curious George, Anna or Elsa, Minions, or Harry Potter? Now’s the time to enter our second annual character family pumpkin decorating contest! The rules are simple!

Choose the book/movie character your family will showcase. Buy a pumpkin and create it (paint, decorate, add hair, etc.) to look like your book character! Bring your completed (uncarved) pumpkin character to the library any time between October 1-16. Pumpkins will be displayed beginning October 19, and patron voting will be ongoing through the remainder of the month with the top three winners announced on October 30!

Paws for a Cause with Animal Friends – Saturdays @ 11 am: Sept. 19, Oct. 24, Nov. 21 & Dec. 12 / Registration required Each month, children have the opportunity to meet at least one approved literacy animal, hear stories, read aloud to the visiting animal, and participate in a literacy activity. Readers of all ages and abilities are welcomed! Because all visits are done on a volun-teer basis, we are asking all participants to bring along one item from the Animal Friends Supply Drive list.
