With thousands of youths coming on the Indian streets, marching with placards, shouting slogans, staging protests supporting the popular demand "death penalty to the rapists", one wonders: Is the Indian spring finally here?

Although I am not sure whether we already have a definition for "Spring" in this context, I think this may not be the Spring that India needs, awaits and deserves from its youth. A great revolution can't evolve with only people on the streets. For a true change to occur, we need, besides a zealous crowd, a strong and sincere will to change. If there is a lack of sincere intention, the revolution will achieve anything but its true mission.

In last couple of years, India has witnessed massive uprising of its fervent youth and "usually dormant" middle class. One nation, two legitimate demands: a strong "anti-corruption" law and "anti-rape" law. In both these demands, the populace has been disappointed with an almost apathetic government. Consequently, the nation's youth is completely stirred. So what is the way forward? Enactment of strong law against these menaces is an absolute requirement. But my question is: Can laws solve all our ills?

In addition to an ardent demand for enacting strong laws against corruption, rape molestation, and violence against women, may I suggest another partial solution: All those, including myself, who think that - corruption is bad for the country - and that - rape is bad for women - must, at the very least, swear to themselves, "We shall not indulge in any corrupt practice and we shall not disrespect or hurt women". And mere promise will not be enough, we shall have to live by the promise.

By practicing these two, the youth will reduce the corruption by at least 50% and sufferings of women by another 50% or more. And if these are practiced, by next 10 years, India will become a model country for the rest of the world. I believe this will incite a true Indian Spring!

Now that the unfortunate victim of Delhi-Gang-Rape has finally succumbed to her injuries, and finally over with her struggles, this shows how India raped one more of its daughters to death! This is not first time in India that a girl has been raped to death. But can it be the last? I firmly believe, if we, the people of India, promise to ourselves that we shall not participate in such heinous crimes, her death can be the last.

I wish in this coming new year, every Indian, at least makes this resolution . And India will be happier. Happy New Year to both men and women of India and the world.

CornerNew-year trash, oops bash! is to come. Despite the hype of Delhi Rape case incident; you'll see many girls coming out on 31st Night and many potential Rapists sitting in ambush to exploit them will be seen.It's not necessary that they Rape girls forcefully, but they get what they want by getting them under the influence of Alcohol or Drugs.I don't say simply giving benefit of doubt, but every year the new-year bash in Bangalore and Mumbai gives so much of trash that the following morning sees lots of empty boozed bottles.

It’s so bad to know that the victim of Delhi Rape incident died in Singapore after battling for life, while the culprits are still alive. I am afraid that violence against Women will continue further if culprits are not taken to task. More such incidents shall take place and living in such a society will become hell for Women.

However, I tell this with disappointment; ‘the justice delayed is justice denied’. When the Rapists of 2002 Gujarat riots and 1984 Sikh riots could not be given capital punishment, where thousands of Daminis were raped; how can we expect the Rapists of Delhi incident to be punished?

We are yet to see those days in our country where Rapists will be given capital death punishment, which deters the men who are infected with the disease of oppressing women through Rape.

Also, we are yet to see those days in our country which shall make it a safe place to live, where women can feel safe in terms of her modesty and honor. A society where man becomes protector of woman, regarding her as “Queen”, serving her by keeping her modestly dressed, not allowing her to drive herself alone and not letting her go out alone; serving her always being her support and body-guard.

*Man for Woman is her husband, brother, father and son. A woman should have 4 body-guards. Boy friends are not in the list. :)

Our taxi stopped at a signal while returning from Makka today. A huge black GMC went past us and stopped a little further. Suddenly the glass rolled down a little, and a hand signal was made to a menial job-worker passing by (he could be from India or Pakistan or Bangladesh). The man came walking, the hand (which could only be seen) gave out some money to him. And the glass rolled up.All we could see is just a hand, not the person who was doing charity.There are amazing people in Saudi, however there are many such around the world too. But these incidents are common here. The significance of doing charity should be inculcated from the childhood itself. Last week, I saw my brother-in-law, Abdus-Salaam Yadav, making his children give charity to a begging woman.But the most important part is: the charity should be given only for ALLAH's sake, that shall surely act as expiation of sins, without SHOWING OFF!

On Thursday night, my friends and I (all appear Mutawwas with Beards) were standing outside a restaurant discussing about common matters.

We saw a beautiful little kitten wandering around us, it was in a playful mood jumping and playing with flying insects. As we were busy in discussion, all of a sudden a car went over its head, smashing it right then. The beautiful little kitten was choking and writhing as it died on the spot. The writhing of the kitten is still in our minds and gives goose-bumps.

Later, I wondered, the Armed-forces of so-called Advanced nations who bomb and kill innocent people especially children of Palestine and Syria. The children who are innocent to the corruption of the World, the children who were playing with each other and suddenly Bombs fell on them.

Any person witnessing the death of an insignificant kitten feels disturbed and bothered, but why are we so inattentive toward the killing of so many beautiful children across the globe?

Moreover, Do these Oppressors not have heart? Or are they just inhuman Beasts?

جب قوم زوال پذير ہوتی ہے تو واہيات و خرافات ميں اپنا بيشــتر وقــت گزارنے لگتی ہے۔ اس کے ذہن ميں ايسے ايسے سـواالت کوندنے لگتے ہيں جو ترقی يافتہ قـوم کے وہم و گمان ميں بـهی نہيں ہوتے۔ مسلم قـوم اس وقـت زوال کے بـدترين دور سے گزر رہی ہے ۔ مثبت کے بجائے منفی بـاتوں پر زيادہ غور و خوض کرنے کی عـادی ہوچکـی ہے ۔ اصل ســــے زيادہ فروعات اس کے نزديک موضوع بحــث ہوتے ہيں- جب دوســری قــوميں خالء٬ چاند پر بســــنے٬ اپنی تہذيب کو پوری دنيا پر تهوپنے٬ موسـم پر کنڻرول کرنے اور آواز کی رفتار ســـــے چلنے والے جہاز٬ نانو ڻيکنولوجی اور کرنوں کے کمـال پـر کـام کـر رہـی ہـوں تـو ايسے ميں مسلمانوں کا معمولی باتوں ميں الجهے

رہنا کتنی افسوسناک بات ہے.

۔ کســـی علمی يا مالی يا منصبـــی فخر ۔ صرف دعا تک محــدود کےبـهرم ميں سـالم کرنے ســے گريز رہنا اور اس کے حصول

کرنا کہاں تک درست ہے ؟ کی خاطر عملی کوشــس ۔ اســــــالم کی تعليمات پر عمل نہ کرنا بــــالکل نہ کرنا کہاں کی ليکن اسـالم کی بــہتری پر ناز کرنا کيا دانشمندی ہے ؟

منافقت نہيں ہے ؟ ۔ صرف روحانی عبـادت ۔ ووٹ ديتے وقـت ايمانداری کا خيال نہ کی بــــــــــــات کرنا اور رکهنا اور پهر بعدميں ليڈروں کے بـے خـــــــودداری٬ خـــــــود ايمانی پر شور مچاناڈهونگ نہيں ہے ؟ انحــصاری٬ انصاف اور

۔ شـــــادی ميں جہيز کے نام پر الکهوں دوسـرے عمل جن ســے روپيہ اور سامان لينا ليکن سنت کے نام سـماج ميں بـہتری پيدا ہو پر چهوہارا بانڻنے يا خاص لباس پہننے اس سـے گريز کرنا کہاں

پر زور دينا کيا منافقت نہيں ہے ؟ تک مناسب ہے ؟۔ دوسروں کی اصليت جانے بغير کسی کے بارے ميں ۔ کسـی ايک کام کی طرف ضرورت ســے زيادہ توجہ

کوئی حتمی رائے قائم کرنا کہاں تک درست ہے؟ دينا اور دوسرے ضروری کام کو بـالکل نظر انداز کر ۔ ســارے کام خود غرضی کے دائرے ميں مقــيد ہوکر دينا کہاں تک درست ہے ؟

کرنا اور پهر عوامی طور پر ايثار و قربــانی کی بــات ۔ قـران اور سـّنت کی اہم تعليمات کو چهوڑ کر مسـلکی

کرنا کيا منافقت نہيں؟ اورفروعی بـات پر قـوم کے اندر تفرقــہ پهيالنا يا اپنی ڻوپی کی شکل٬ داڑهی کا سائز ٬ دعا کا طريقـہ٬ بـال

۔ جس چيز کی حصول کی کوشش نہ کی جائے اس کی برتری ثابت کرنا يہ کونسا اسالمی طريقہ ہے؟رنگنے کی حـرمت٬ جهينگے کی حــرمت٬ عمرہ کے

توقع کرنا نادانی نہيں؟ ۔ کتاب پڑهنے کے لئے آدها گهنڻہ نہ نکال کر ٢۔٢ اور مستحبــــــــــــــات ٬ نفل روزے کی اہميت٬ پردے کی

۔ قرض ليکر وعدے کے مطابق وقت پر ادا نہ کرنا کيا ٣۔٣ گهنڻہ ڻی وی يا دوســرے فضول کاموں ميں لگانا ضرورت ٬پائجامہ کی لمبـــائی٬دعا کی قبــــوليت کے

بے ايمانی نہيں؟ حرام ہے يا حالل۔۔۔؟اوقات٬ شب بـرات ميں حـلوہ بـانڻنے کا منطق٬ قبـروں

۔ پيسے موجود ہوتے ہوئے بـهی کسـی حـاجت مند کی ۔ خودداری اور غيرت کو بيچ کر اعتکاف ميں بيڻهنا... پر دعا پڑهنا جائز ہے يا ناجائز٬مردوں کے لئے قرآن

مدد نہ کرنا اس کے بــــاوجود ہمارا دعوی کہ ہم پکے حــرام ہے يا حــالل۔۔۔؟ اس ســـے ہم کس کوفريب دے خوانی کرانا چاہئے يا نہيں وغيرہ وغيـرہ پـر صديـوں

مسلمان ہيں کہاں تک درست ہے؟ رہے ہيں خدا کو يا خود کو؟سـے بحـث ہو رہی ہے اور شـايد آگے بـهی ہوتی رہے

۔ لوگوں کی صرف مالی حـالت اور اس سـے فوائدکے ۔ عملی کوشش کے ارادے کے بغير قـومی مفادات کی گی۔کيا ايســے ہی ســـواالت ميں ہم الجهے رہيں گے ؟

حصول کے مد نظر دوستی کرنا کيا خلوص کے منافی بات کرنا حرام ہے يا حالل۔۔۔؟اس طرح ســواال ت پر بحــث کرکے ہم دنيا کی ترقــی

نہيں؟ ۔ ســـامنے والے کی طاقـــت اور کمزوری کو پرکهے يافتہ قــوم کا مقابـــلہ کر ســـکتے ہيں کيا ؟ کيا ايســـے

۔ جو اپنے لئے پسند کرے وہ دوسرے کے لئے پسند نہ بغير ہوا ميں تير چالنا کہاں کی عقلمندی ہے؟دقيانوســی ســواالت ہميں مزيد پيچهے کی طرف نہيں

کرنا حرام ہے يا حالل۔۔۔؟ ۔ صرف دين يـا صـرف دنيـا کـی تعليـم دينـا کہـاں تـک دهکيل رہے ہيں؟ کچه اور ســـواالت ہيں جس پر ہميں

۔ کسـی بــهی انســان کو ســواے تقــویٰ اور اخالق کی درست ہے ؟ اس سے ہم ملت کو کہاں لے جائيں گے؟گہرائی کے ســـاته غور و خوض کرنا چاہئے ۔تا کہ ہم

کســوڻی پر جانچےبـــغير اپنے ســـے کمتر ســـمجهنا ۔ ہر کام کے لئے صرف فوری نتيجے کـو دهيـان ميـں اليعنی و خرافات ســـے احـــتراز کرکے مثبــــت اور

کياحماقت نہيں؟ رکه کر عمل کرنا اور طويل مّدتی منصوبـے اور عمل تعميری کاموں پر توجہ دے سکيں۔

۔ حرام کے پيسے سـے حـالل گوشـت کی دوکان تالش کو بـالکل نظر انداز کر دينا کيا مومن کی فراســت کے کرنا کيا مسلم معاشرے کی قالشی کو ظاہر نہيں کرتا؟ منافی نہيں ہے ؟

۔ جس سـماج ميں غربـت ســے کروڑوں لوگوں کو دو ۔ کســی بـــهی کام کو پوری ايمانداری اور مہارت کے ۔ دشمنوں سے بار بار دهوکا کهانے کے باوجود اسـے

وقت کی روڻی اور غريب بچوں کو اسکول اور کتابيں بغير خانہ پری کے لئے کرنا کيا بے ايمانی نہيں ہے؟ بـار بـار پرکهنا اور اس سـے بــہتری کی توقــع رکهنا

مہيا نہيں ہيں وہاں نفل اور مستحـب کی بــات کرنا اور ۔ جهوٹ اور فريب سے تجارت کرنا منافقت نہيں ؟ کس درجہ کی حماقت ہے ؟

اس پر خرچ کہاں تک درست ہے ؟ ۔ ضمير کو بيچ کر مصلحت کی بـات کرنا حـرام ہے يا ۔ بـچے کے رزق کی پرواہ کے بــغير بــچے پيدا کرنا

۔ جس قـوم کی اکثريت کے بـچے ا سـکول جانے سـے حالل۔۔۔؟ اور بہترتعليم و تربيت سے غافل رہنا کہاں تک درست

محـــــــروم ہوں اور اس قابـــــــل نہ ہوں کہ وہ تعليمی ہے ؟

اخراجات برداشـــت کرســـکيں ايســـے ميں لوگوں کا حــرام ســے پرہيز نہيں ٬ فضول خرچی اور رياکاری ۔ مسجد کے اندر پاکباز اور مسجد کے باہر نفس باز بن

دوسـرے بــچوں کو ايک کتاب دينے کی زحــمت کے کرتے ہوئے تقــــوی و طہارت کی بـــــات کرنا٬ اصل جانا کيا ہماری عياری و مکـاری کـو ظاہـر نہيـں کرتـا

بجائے اپنے بچے کو قيمتی تحفہ دينا کہاں تک درسـت اہميت کے حـــــامل کام يا بـــــات کو نظر انداز کرکے اور ہمارا يہ فعل شيطانی فعل کے مساوی نہيں ہے؟

ہے ؟معمولی بــاتوں پر اپنی قــوت ضائع کرنا کيا حماقـــت ۔ ظاہری پردے کی خاطر لڑکيـوں کـو گـهر کـی چہـار

۔ جس سماج ميں غربت کی وجہ سـے ہزاروں لڑکيوں نہيں؟ پهر بــهی اکثر لوگ انہيں غير معمولی ســوالوں ديواری ميں قــيد رکهنا اور اس کو بـــاطنی پردے کے

کی جہاں شــادی نہيں ہو پا رہی ہو٬ وہيں اســی ســماج ميں برسو سـے کيوں الجهے ہوئے ہيں؟ کيا وقـت کے شعور (علم) سے محروم رکهنا يہ کونسا اسالمی شعار

کے لوگو ں کا اپنی شـــــــادی ميں الکهوں روپيہ خرچ لحاظ سے ہميں اپنے ترجيحـات اور خياالت کو بـدلنے ہے؟

کرنا کيا معاشــرے کی بــے حــس رويہ کو ظاہر نہيں کی ضرورت نہيں؟ آخر فرض چهوڑکر نفل کی بـــات ۔ ہر وہ غذا جس سے نہ تو بـهوک مڻتی ہو اور نہ ہی وہ

کرتا؟کرنا کہاں تک مناســــــب ہے؟ آخر کب تک ہم ان غير جســم کے لئے فائدہ مند ہو اس کو اســتعمال کرنا کہاں

۔ اگر بـدن کے زخمی حـّصے جس سـے خون رس رہا ضروری ســــــوالوں کے جال ميں محــــــصور ہوکر تک درست ہے ؟

ہوتو اسـکے عالج کی کوشـش کے بـجا ئے بــالوں کو دوسروں کے محتاج بنے رہيں گے اور جن سوالوں کا ۔ کسـی ايک امام کی آنکه بــند کر کے تقــليد کرنا اور

رنگنے يا پهنســـی اور دانے کے عالج کو ترجيح دينا جواب جاننا وقت کا تقـاضا ہے اسـے نظر انداز کرکے دوسـرے امام کی بــات کو بــلکل نظر انداز کر دينا کيا

کہاں تک درست ہے ؟خوش فہمی کے شــــکار بـــــنے رہيں گے ؟ زندہ اور عصبيت نہيں؟

۔ بـاطنی پاکيزگی کے بــجائے ظاہری زيب و زينت پر متحــرک قــوم فضول کے ســـوالوں ميں الجهنے کے ۔ پڑوس ميں اگر کسـی غم کی وجہ سـے ماتم ہو رہا ہو

ہی پورا زور دينا حرام ہے يا حالل۔۔۔؟بــجائے نئے معرکے ســر کرتی ہے٬ نئی راہيں تالش تو کسی کا جشن منانا حرام ہے يا حالل۔۔۔؟

۔ غريب ٬ دکهی اور حـاجتمند کی مدد کے بــجاے نفلی کرتی ہے اور ايسے راسـتے کا انتخاب کرتی ہے جس ۔ مســلم اخوت کا دائر ہ کتنی دوری تک نافذ ہوتی ہے؟

روزہ٬ عمرہ اور دوســـــرے کام پر پورا زور دينا اور پر چل کر پوری قـوم کاميابـی و کامرانی ســے ہمکنار ماتم کے مقـام سـے کتنی دوری کے بـعد ايک مسـلمان

اس پراپنا مال خرچ کرنا حرام ہے يا حالل۔۔۔؟ہوتی ہے۔ جشن مناسکتا ہے ؟

۔ دوسـری قـوم پر منحـصر ہوکر زندگی گزارنا حــرام ۔ کچه علم حـاصل کرنے کے بــعد آگے ســيکهنے کی

ہے يا حالل۔۔۔؟آنســـو بـــهی ہيں آنکهوں ميں دعائيں بـــهی ہيں لب پر جسـتجو نہ کرنااور اس کے بـاوجود آسـمان چهو لينے

۔ مسـجد ميں کسـی قـوم کے خالف بـددعا کرنا اور پهر بگڑے ہوئے حاالت٬ سنورکيوں نہيں جاتے کا دعوی کرنا کہاں تک درست ہے ؟

ان کی بـنائی ہوئی چيزکو انتہائی شـوق سـے اسـتعمال حبيب جالب ۔ اجتماعيت کے بغير آزادانہ زندگی گزارنا حـرام ہے

کرکے ان کو مالی طور پر طاقــــتور بـــــنانا کہاں کی يا حالل۔۔۔؟

The next stage is crossing over bridge (Sirat). It is a long and narrow bridge that everyone has to pass through it before entering Heaven. It is a bridge over Hell as understood from Hadith. The Quran does not say anything about this bridge, except in Surah Maryam/71-72, which could possibly be referring to the bridge. The verse says:-

There is not one of you but will pass over it: this is, with your Lord, a decree which must be accomplished. Then We shall rescue those who kept from evil, and leave the evil-doers crouching there.

According to the above verse everybody has to be at Hell but good-doers will be saved by Allah Almighty. Since Sirat will be at Hell, this verse might be referring to Sirat (Allah knows better).It is said that this Sirat will be a reflection of one’s worldly life. The more a person is Allah-fearing the more easily he will pass over it. This day will be harder than the Judgment Day.

Even though the Sirat is not specifically mentioned in the Quran, it is found in some of the authentic Hadiths of our Prophet (S) as below.Narrated by Abu Huraira: Some people said, "O Allah's Apostle! Shall we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection?" He said, "Do you crowd and squeeze each other on looking at the sun when it is not hidden by clouds?" They replied, "No, Allah's Apostle." He said, "Do you crowd and squeeze each other on looking at the moon when it is full and not hidden by clouds?" They replied, No, O Allah's Apostle!" He said, "So you will see Him (your Lord) on the Day of Resurrection similarly Allah will gather all the people and say, 'Whoever used to worship anything should follow that thing. So, he who used to worship the sun, will follow it, and he who used to worship the moon will follow it, and he who used to worship false deities will follow them; and then only this nation (i.e., Muslims) will remain, including their hypocrites. Allah will come to them in a shape other than they know and will say, 'I am your Lord.' They will say, 'We seek refuge with Allah from you. This is our place; (we will not follow you) till our Lord comes to us, and when our Lord comes to us, we will recognize Him.' Then Allah will come to then in a shape they know and will say, 'I am your Lord.' They will say, '(No doubt) You are our Lord,' and they will follow Him. Then a bridge will be laid over the (Hell) Fire." Allah's Apostle added, "I will be the first to cross it. And the invocation of the Apostles on that Day, will be 'Allahukka Sallim, Sallim (O Allah, save us, save us!),' and over that bridge there will be hooks Similar to the thorns of As Sa'dan (a thorny tree). Didn't you see the thorns of As-Sa'dan?" The companions said, "Yes, O Allah's Apostle." Few days back a sales agent came to my place. He was from Pizza Hut, a food chain operating in India. This chain has outlets in different cities and towns. The sales agent wanted to sell a booklet with a collection of vouchers. The cost was Rs. 400/- . The vouchers could entitle me to get free offers for seven months. The booklet seemed to be quite attractive as by paying Rs. 400/- one could get benefits worth more. I was on the verge of buying the booklet. Then I wanted to glance through the Menu Card carried by the representative. There I found that the menu i n c l u d e d p o r k preparations along with other non-veg. items. Immediately, I changed my mind and declined the offer.

A question may be asked, why I did so. I did so as I remembered an incident of several years past. We were in Cannaught Place, New Delhi. We wanted to eat something. We decided to go to the Nirula’s Restaurant. We ordered some vegetarian items as we were not sure about the non-veg. items whether the same were Halaal (Zabiha) or not. During those days the Nirula’s Restaurant at Cannaught Place was planned in such a way that the customers could see the kitchen from behind a glass partition and they were able to see the actual cooking. Probably, that was a strategy to attract more customers as they could be assured of the quality of ingredients and the cooking process. I too stood there to look at the kitchen. Then I realized that there was a large hot plate on which different types of rounded items were being cooked to be used as fillings or stuffing. I was surprised to see that non-veg. and veg. items were being cooked together and the same person was turning them around and upside down with the same flat spoon. Obviously, there was no segregation between veg. and non-veg. items and the fat and oil oozing out of the non-veg. items was mixing with the veg. items and vice versa. I went to the Manger of the Restaurant and complained to him about the lapse. First he wanted to dismiss me by saying that there was no problem with the practice. When I explained to him that even strict vegetarians were there in the restaurant and they were being served the same items, he gave me a silly argument. He told me that the Restaurant did not claim to be serving vegetarian food items. It was only serving “vegetable preparations”. Later, I did send a letter to the management of the Restaurant chain. But there was no response. From then onwards I never went there for food.

I can easily understand the difficulty or better to say policy of those restaurants/food outlets. They do not want to employ several persons for cooking those fillings/stuffing. If they have separate hot plates, obviously they will have to post more than one person to take care of the cooking. The same will affect their profitability.

I am not aware of the situation in Pizza Hut as I have not been to their kitchen. But I do not expect it to be different. It is almost impossible for the management to keep separate persons for handling the toppings for different types of pizzas. I expect a set of persons does that as per the requirements from time to time. Under the circumstance, I decided not to go for those coupons. I think people who do not go for all kinds of food i.e. those who are strict vegetarians or those who do not consume beef or pork etc. may like to avoid such restaurants/food outlets.
