Welcome to the third issue of the Baker House

Times. Summer is finally here, and Stampede is

just around the corner! Time to bring out your

western wear and get your fill of pancakes, and

then catch the fireworks at night!

Did you know that Calgary Housing Company

has a website?

www.calgaryhousingcompany.org has a Tenant

Support page on the website that tenants can use

so they know who to contact when they have

questions, such as whether a Property Manager

or Tenant Liaison can help them out.

Inspiring

quotes

“No one can make you feel infe-

rior without your consent.” El-

eanor Roosevelt

“Life isn't about finding your-

self. Life is about creating your-

self.” George Bernard Shaw

“When we honestly ask our-

selves which person in our lives

mean the most to us, we often

find that it is those who, instead

of giving advice, solutions, or

cures, have chosen rather to

share our pain and touch our

wounds with a warm and ten-

der hand. The friend who can

be silent with us in a moment of

despair or confusion, who can

stay with us in an hour of grief

and bereavement, who can tol-

erate not knowing, not curing,

not healing and face with us the

reality of our powerlessness,

that is a friend who cares.”

Henri J.M Nouwen

“Happiness is not something

ready made. It comes from your

own actions.” Dalai Lama XIV

“Never doubt that a small group

of thoughtful, committed, citi-

zens can change the world. In-

deed, it is the only thing that

ever has.” Margaret Mead

POEMS BY GAIL A WOMAN’S BILL OF RIGHTS

I have the right to be treated with respect.

I have the right to have and express my feelings.

I have the right to have and express my opinions.

I have the right to be listened to and taken seriously.

I have the right to set my own priorities and make my own choices.

I have the right to say “NO” without feeling guilty.

I have the right to ask for what I want and need.

I have the right to be different from what others expect me to be.

I have the right to LOVE and BE LOVED.

I have the right to be HAPPY AND PEACEFUL.

ALCOHOL AND LOVE

When two people are in love,

They are like a pair of doves.

Soaring over the ocean,

Like in a magic potion.

Between the crying and fighting,

There’s no time for writing.

So if you want love at all,

Don’t mix with alcohol.

God is love,

And love and alcohol don’t mix.

MY ANGEL

There’s an Angel in my heart

She’s been there from the start.

She watches over me

Even though we are apart.

Her name is Gail Ann

And even though she ran

She’s always been with me

Loving and caring is her plan.

She’ll always be in my soul

In her Angel role,

She’s taking care of me

Never will she go.

She’s the Angel in my heart

Never shall we part.

I’ll always feel her with me

No matter where we are

The Angel in my heart, Gail Ann

“If you're reading this... Congratulations, you're alive. If that's not something to smile about, then I don't know what is.” Chad Sugg
