But a report commissioned by ClubsNSW earlier this year recommended the - NSW government alter the - ClubGrants scheme so in that clubs who invest in childcare or aged care in their buildings can offset this investment against their ClubGrants liability. Clubs pay 0.4 per cent of poker machine profits over $1 million to the - ClubGrants fund. They moreover gain a tax rebate for poker machine profits spent on certain categories of community projects. "Allowing clubs to directly allocate their category 3 contributions towards the - construction of a new childcare or aged care facility within an existing building or on existing club land would help," the - McKell Institute report said. The director of after-school care provider Extend, Darren Stevenson, asserted there had been a "very emotive" reaction to the - ClubsNSW proposal among childcare services.
