PUR PHILOSOPHY

Put into a shoe only what needs to be there. Keep the materials as earth friendly as possible.

The result of this philosophy is a unique line of elemental footwear which is stripped-down, natural and chic. "Footwear with a conscience" is put to practice in our responsibly manufactured product using only five simple ingredients. At PUR we stand behind each and every one of our comfortably deconstructed products, and hope that you enjoy them as much as we do!

INGREDIENTS

*Vegetable tanned low impact leather (*Leather collection)The different colors of our leathers come from vegetable oils that are extracted from walnut shells, tree roots, bark oils and soybean. The process is strictly monitored to ensure a low impact on the environment and so that many of the natural substances used during the process are recovered, recycled and rused. In recent years, this process has managed to reduce water consumption, heavy fuel oil and electricity by more than 50%.

**Blend of organic cotton and hemp (**Hemp collection) The uppers in our hemp collection are a simple combination of both hemp and organic cotton. The outer fabric is 100% natural hemp and the lining is a blend of 55% hemp and 45% organic cotton. This is a conscious mixture of natural fibres which balances comfort and durability in an eco-friendly way!

Recycled boardThis ingredient is exactly what it says it is. The recycled paper board is a key ingredient as it allows the eco-friendly leather upper to be stitched down to it and then adhered, using a water-based adhesive, to the natural crepe sole.

Natural crepe rubber soleNatural crepe rubber is made 100% from the rubber tree. Essentially, the process for producing natural crepe rubber soles is done by harvesting sap from rubber plants and, after a process called coagulation, pressing it on to sheets. The soles are then cut from these sheets. Aside from being an environmentally responsible alternative, advantages to natural crepe rubber soles also include their high slip resistance and longevity in wear.

Latex foam cushioningLatex is the most naturally durable cushioning material available and is what we use in the foot bed of our shoes. It is derived from the rubber tree, where a milky substance drips from the bark and is whipped and baked. The finished product is soft, light and biodegradable. This natural latex foam cushioning conforms to your foot and provides superior pressure relief. All of our foot beds are covered by our eco-friendly leather to provide added comfort and softness.

ThreadAll of our eco-friendly leather uppers are stitched down to the recycled board with nylon thread. Nylon can be separated and sorted with similar plastics to be to be reduced for reuse in new products.
