Student Forum On Friday 31st August, five of our wonderful students came to school on curriculum day to work with students from Point Cook senior Secondary College to lead a Respec ul Rela onships Student Forum. Ashley Mitchell, Tora Kwansah, Najiha Jaman, Nikita Siwan and Victoria Haddara worked for many weeks in the lead up to the forum to plan the ac vi es and prepare the informa on they were going to present. On the day, our students presented to over 70 peers from various colleges in Wyndham and what an amazing job they did! Tora and Ashley started the day with a great nametag ac vity that encouraged people to introduce themselves to one another. Victoria spoke about why Respec ul Rela onships is such an important program and had the students par cipa ng in ac vi es about issues that young people regularly face as well as the impact this can have on their mental health. Najiha and Nikita led an ac vity about the character traits that are important for leaders to have. They asked each group to share their thoughts about this and then confidently summarised this informa on. The day was a great success and we received some very posi ve feedback from the staff and students from the other schools that a ended. I sincerely thank Ashley, Tora, Nikita, Najiha and Victoria for willingly coming to school on their ‘day off’ and congratulate them for all of the fantas c work that they did. Sarah Hamilton

RUOK? FUNDRAISER – SEPTEMBER 13TH
The BPC Student Representa ve Council (SRC) are hos ng a mental health awareness and fundraiser day. Mental health issues such as depression and anxiety are far more common than people o en realise. We want to
remind everyone that they have the power to make a difference to someone’s life, simply by asking R U OK?
In any one year, around 1 million Australian adults have depression, and over 2 million have anxiety. (beyondblue.org.au)
The most recent Australian data (ABS, Causes of Death, 2015) reports deaths due to suicide in 2015 at 3,027 people. (lifeline.org.au)
These are heartbreaking sta s cs.
Please support the campaign by:
‐ Asking someone if they’re ok.
‐ Wearing YELLOW on September 13th
You can wear free dress to school that day, as long it is YELLOW, or wear your uniform with a yellow accessory. We ask for a gold coin dona on, to
give to the RUOK charity.
Congratula ons to our students who’s work made it to the IMAGINE STATE‐WIDE ART GALLERY. You should be very proud.
Congratula ons to Jasmin from TEO who got 30032 Points in Mathle cs. What an outstanding score.
A gentle reminder that we distributed the “Food Around the World” calendar to all families last year, but unfortunately there was a typing error sta ng the students finish school in
November i.e. 21/11/18. NB: This date is incorrect and students must come to school un l the end of December. The correct date for the last day of term four is FRIDAY 21st
DECEMBER. I do apologise for this error and ask you to amend your calendars accordingly.
