BACKGROUND OF ULU KENAS
• Ulu Kenas was established as early as the 1990’s.• It cover an area of 15 hectares. • 5 hectares of the area were developed with various recreational activities.• The main entrance to Gunung Bubu
HOW DID ULU KENAS GET ITS NAME??
• In 1880,a war sparked between Siamese and Perak kingdom.• Siamese army attack Perak through Kedah.They intruded Perak through Sayong
Village.• The Siamese retreated to the forest where they were attack by a mysterious disease.
They thought the disease was a bobby trap set by Perak army.• Actually throughout their tracking in the forest they have passed through poisonous
leaves of ‘Jelatang Gajah’.• The pain was unbearable that they had to draw back to Sementa Village.• News spread very fast to the Perak army,they then took the advantage to attack the
Siamese. A great battle took place. Forcing the Siamese to retreated by walking up the river.They finally arrived to the river upstream and took cover there.In order to survive they pick young shoot of wood trees and collected ‘Kinjing’ shells near the river.
• The shell dish is known as Kenas.• Tok Nara directed his army to fight the Siamese at their best.At last,the Siamese
surrrendered and retreated out of Perak.They accidentally left their cooking utilities at their height out.They were a lot of shells at the river outstream and that is how Ulu Kenas gets its name.
