It was available through the PFSM newsletter, each of the PFSM churches, at Wednesday Lenten services, United Methodist Church and Presbyterian Church. AA meetings are on pause right now. The group leader is availa-ble by phone if anyone needs to talk and by email. The plan is to resume regular meetings at BLC when the stay-at-home order is over. The purchase order for the public transportation van was submit-ted to KDOT this past Friday. Parish nurse visits are down to very few home visits, Nancy wears a mask, asks the person the appropriate risk questions. Try-ing to keep in touch with people by phone or mail--regular con-tacts plus anyone who might be a requested contact. If someone requires medical appointment transportation during this time, Nancy would follow this same protocol. Homemade fabric masks can be requested if someone wishes to use one and does not have one. (Mask information is in the May newsletter. Next health ministry advisory board meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 29 at 5:30. Visitors are welcome. Needs for the Parish Nurse Ministry remain the same as listed on March parish nurse report. ALWAYS BEING MADE NEW… BENEFIT OF CHANGE LORD, IT’S HAPPENING AGAIN! CHANGE
IS TAKING PLACE. IT SEEMS WE JUST GET SETTLED INTO A NEW WAY OF BEING AND WE ARE HIT WITH ANOTHER WAVE OF “NEW NORMAL”. HELP US WITH THE GROWING PAINS OF RE-CREATION. GIVE US COURAGE WITHIN OURSELVES AND PATIENCE WITH OTHERS. THE OLD WAY OF BEING IS GONE
AND WE GRIEVE. MAY THOSE MEMORIES OF THE OLD WAY, OF LAST MONTH OR SIX MONTHS AGO, BECOME NOT A
STUMBLING BLOCK TO YOUR CREATING WORK WITHIN US. OPEN OUR MINDS TO YOUR CREATIVE SPIRIT. OPEN OUR EYES WITH CURIOSITY TO SEE WHAT NEW THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.
EVEN IF YOU, O LORD, MUST DRAG US YELLING AND SCREAMING INTO CHANGE, DO SO. BEND OUR EAR TO YOUR
VOICE TO FOLLOW ON A PATH YET UNKNOWN, YET UNTRODDEN. WORK IN US A NEW WORK THAT STRETCHES US AND CHALLENGES OUR PERCEPTIONS. THOUGH WE CRY OUT, “I CAN NOT CHANGE!” “I DO NOT WANT TO CHANGE,” YOU ARE A
CREATING GOD, THE ARCHITECT OF ALL THINGS SEEN AND UNSEEN. YOUR SPIRIT MOVES WITHIN OUR HEARTS AND
MINDS. WE FIND OURSELVES BEING MADE NEW EACH MORNING RISE, RECREATED BEINGS MADE IN YOUR IMAGE.
REMIND US AGAIN, O GOD, THAT WE ARE ALWAYS BEING MADE NEW THROUGH YOUR SON. CHANGE IS OUR HUMAN JOURNEY
THAT WILL FIND US ONE DAY HOME WITH YOU. AMEN.

PFSM Council Meeting, Continued from Page 2... New Business Services continue to be on FaceBook: 9:00 a.m. for Pastor Randy, 10:45 a.m. for Pastor Jon, and 10:30 a.m. for Pastor Kim. Discussed purchasing Zoom which would approximately be $150 per year. To be used by PFSM council and the individual congre-gation councils. PFSM council members will check with the indi-vidual church councils to see if they would find this useful Richard Jensen was able to apply for a PPP loan for PFSM. The loan has been applied for and approved. The loan amount is $34,100. to be used for 11 line items in the budget. The loan will be for 2 years and if we meet all the requirements the loan will be turned into a grant and will not need to be repaid. The PFSM coun-cil decided to participate in the PPP loan program and authorized Richard Jensen to review and sign the loan documents and open a separate checking account to segregate the funds. Discussed the forgiveness of individual church membership dues for 1 month. Decision will hinge on the PPP loan Discussed the governor’s guidelines for reopening. May 31st St John will be having a drive-in service with individual packaged communion. The next PFSM council meeting will be June 17th at 7:30 p.m. at Bethlehem or by Zoom. Will you be a helper? This is June, a time when many are on vacation. The work of the church, however, goes on. It must. God and the Church do not go on hiatus. So what needs to be remembered? Stewardship, for one thing. Reminding everyone that the bills also come in the summer, the church staff members need their salaries, the church utilities need paid, the food pantries need donations, missionaries are still in the field, etc. The church must depend on each member doing his or her part on a regular basis. That is our responsibility and our privilege. We must also carry on our stewardship of service: lining up lectors for Sunday, finding volunteers for mowing, ushers for worship services, recruiting greeters, etc. The bottom line is this: Helpers are always needed. Helpers are always wanted. Helpers are always special and greatly appreciated. Will you please be a helper?
THE POWER OF PENTECOST
Pentecost started as a Jewish festival
commemorating God’s giving the Law to the
Israelites 50 days after they escaped from slavery in
Egypt.
Just days after the risen Jesus ascended to heaven,
his (Jewish) disciples gathered in Jerusalem to
celebrate Pentecost. But God transformed the
occasion by giving them the Holy Spirit, as he’d
promised. The disciples saw something like flames
among and on them, heard a rushing wind and
began speaking in many languages. The pilgrims in
Jerusalem heard about Jesus in their native tongues
(see Acts 2:1-12).
In Christian churches, Pentecost was once as
important as Christmas and Easter. Today,
congregations still observe it in special ways, using
the color red to symbolize the Holy Spirit’s power.
Worship services sometimes include hymns, prayers
and Scriptures in various tongues. To simulate the
original Pentecost experience, congregations may say
the Lord’s Prayer in several languages at once.
