International Spatial Development (ISD)

Cities grow at tremendous rates. More than half the world population lives in cities which leads to problems like: noise and air pollution, overcrowding, unsafe living conditions, traffic jams.

The world is in need of people who are capable of Shaping our Society. People who help guide changes in urban areas in a healthy and sustainable way, while also offering as many people as possible the chance to a better future

In some countries new cities are built for million inhabitants.

In other cities more and more people live in ‘spontaneous settlements’ wich lack good living conditions.

An increasing traffic leads to an increase of traffic jams and delays wich results in health and wellbeing issues.

Testimonials

How Elmira experienced NHTV

‘The atmosphere in the Academy is very in-formal. It also has a small-scale character, that’s why you know most of your fellow students and they know you.I am also satisfied with the contact with lecturers. They are very open and ap-proachable, you are not just a number because they know you by name. I really feel that I can always turn to them, that I am always welcome with my questions. I noticed that following a higher education programme is very different from second-ary school. You have much more respon-sibility. Lecturers teach, but you have to challenge yourself to go deeper into the subject matter in order to get to know more.’

How Joeriexperienced NHTV

‘The good thing about this academy is that there is room for all sorts of people.What-ever you do, it is all right: if you just come to NHTV to study, that is OK. But if you come to study AND want to build an active student life, that is OK too. What makes this possible, is the ‘open door’ culture. You can ask questions any time of the day, and you will always get an answer, no matter what the question. Moreover, the facili-ties at the academy make for an agreeable work environment, just think of the Medi-atheek (library), Servicedesk, and various study areas.’
