These documents help us to regularly review and record what we offer EVERY child or young person in our care and what we offer addiFonally. These discussions also serve to embed our high expectaFons among staff about quality first teaching and the applicaFon of a differenFated and personalised approach to teaching and learning. We make it a point to discuss aspiraFons with ALL our learners. Underpinning ALL our provision in school is the graduated approach cycle of: It is our duty to provide equal opportuniFes for every person in our care and a safe and fully equipped learning environment which caters to the needs of every child as an individual (Reference: AddiFonal Needs Policy 2015, pg 3). Assess: The school will use data from KS2 SATs, transiFonal meeFngs with primary schools at which discussions will take place to highlight any addiFonal support that may be needed once a pupil reaches St Edmund Arrowsmith, CogniFve Assessment Tests (CATs) taken at the start of year 7, in-class assessment data from teachers and addiFonal tesFng based upon referrals from concerned staff, parents or indeed from the pupil themselves. Plan: Teaching staff, alongside the SENCo, Heads of Departments, support staff and, if necessary, external experFse, will look at how best the learning needs of the young person within their classroom.
