Electronic Banking also known as Cyber banking, on-line banking, virtual banking, home banking includes all various banking activities conducted from home, office, on the road or in any location other than the bank premises. Electronic banking services range from simple bill

payment and account balance monitoring to securing a loan. Such services have been offered for quite some time but they depended on proprietary software and private network solutions. After the emergence of Internet it was possible for these services to be offered publicly.

The benefits are significant for both parties, banks and customers: For the bank it is a quick, inexpensive way of offering services, relieves personnel from the paperwork and offers 24-hour services, which no physical branch could offer. It may eventually lead to reducing the number of branches. The role of the remaining ones may be different, as they will be relieved from part of the transactional load and will, be allowed to redirect efforts to more productive activities such as financial consulting and other financial services.
