Education with a Purpose

A career pathway is…….

a coherent sequence of rigorous academic andcareer courses that begins in high school andleads to an associate degree, a bachelor’sdegree and beyond, and/or an industryrecognized certificate or license. Careerpathways are developed, implemented, andmaintained by partnerships involving educators, community leaders, and employers.

Career Clusters The US Dept of Education has designated

16 clusters that form the basis for Career Pathways. – Georgia uses 11 clusters. (FY 12 moving to the 16 federal clusters + 1 energy cluster = 17 clusters for Georgia)Each cluster represents a group of related industries (GA: agribusiness, aerospace, healthcare & eldercare, life sciences, energy & environmental, logistics & transportation) and occupations in the American economy.
