Skillz is for anyone wanting to have skills
Anyone bad at skills such as in football or
cricket or swimming
It‟s useful whenever you need to know some
kind of skill
Imagine Elliot, a normal 14 year old. He goes
to school like a normal kid, but when it
comes to 2nd period on Monday, he gets sad,
but why because its PE and he‟s not the best
at PE so he doesn‟t like it
The problem at it‟s root is basically low
self esteem in a person as he/she is not good at anything
specific to do with sport. Low self esteem can then lead to many
problems such as doing bad in tests, not
socializing with others, being sad all the time all because they don‟t believe in
themselves.
Question
How can you
learn new ways
to do skills?
Key insight
You can easily find reliable
videos of skills or drills in
categories, that have been
rated in stars.
Elevator Pitch
My team, B-Team, is developing a
mobile app to help anyone who is
bad at sports learn new skills, by
rated videos, usually by people of a
similar age.
User Profiles
These are 3 of the people we have looked at more closely
for the user profiles these are people who have done our
survey and so we have a bit more information
• Female (14)
• Goes to Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School
• She tries to do handball but can‟t as she doesn‟t understand it
• Favourite Colour - Blue
Olivia Stell
Olivia is bad at handball as she doesn‟t understand
the sport so she downloads Skillz and
learns how to play the sport and learns the sport and understands the sport
too
• Male (14)
• Goes to Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar
• Used to be bad at Football
• Favourite Colour – Turquoise
Elliot Snape
Elliot is bad at everything so he decided to
get good at sports by downloading Skillz
and now he knows how to be good at
athletics
Keir Mcdonald
• Male (14)
• Used to bad At Football
• Goes to Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar
• Favourite Colour - Cyan
As you can see he now plays
football and is really good at it but
before that he was terrible until he
downloaded Skillz. It helped him
learn new skills that then allowed
him to get good and beat his
friends in a football match this not
only helped him at football but also
helped his self confidence
Competitors
There isn‟t specific competitors in the area there is
programs for the phone that are similar to the app that
we would like to make, the biggest one being YouTube.
YouTube is a big video company that allows users to
upload videos on all types of subjects the only
problem with that is its hard to find videos that are
specific to what you are looking for. There is little
programs on the market also which are less
successful such as CityEcademy which is more to do
with football skills this could be what has lead it to be
less successful then other apps
User Stories
“Dominik has no life and likes to watch people do videos so he can rate them.”
-there are other things to do if you have no life (YouTube)
-not very wide target market
“Joe is a football coach and he wants to learn new drills to do with his pupils.”
-not very likely, they usually know drills
-would be useful
-not wide enough target market
“Sarah wants to upload her skills and tips to help other people.”
-quite likely
-not many people spend free time helping people
“Elliot is bad at a sport and wants to learn new skills so he can do better at school and not get bullied.”
-quite likely
-wide target market
-very useful to them
THIS IS THE MAIN TARGET AUDIENCE.
AS A PERSON WHO ISNT VERY GOOD AT SPORTS, I WANT TO LEARN NEW SKILLS STEP BY STEP SO THAT I CAN
BE MORE SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE

Feasibility
Data:
-need internet
connection to access
the videos, otherwise
the app would take up
too much data.
-need internet
connection to access
which videos you put as
your favourites.
Content:
-need to know how to do
these skills/drills.
-need to be able to clearly
show the skills/drills step by
step.
-need to find a fair amount of
videos for each subject
-need to judge how hard the
skill/drill would be to do
then rate it with stars (e.g. 1
would be easy, 5 very hard).
Technical:
-doesn‟t need a phone
with a touch screen as
everything done could be
done with arrow buttons
and an enter button.
-needs a good quality
screen for the videos to
be seen easily.
-needs a big screen so the
videos can fill it and you
can see it easily.
Business model and pledges
The basic model is that people can download the
app for free and watch 5 videos for free and after
that you would have to pay and amount of money to
get unlimited access to videos. This is because
people don‟t watch that many videos for skills and
so they get some videos already and if they want to
watch more after the free ones . As a form we did
not get enough time to go out and start to get
customer pledges and that is why we do not have
this part of the PowerPoint.
Marketing Strategy
The first form of advertisement was a poster that can be put
up in school halls this is because the main target audience is
teenagers and young adults which go to schools which is a
place where a poster can be put up.
The second form of advertisement is to get in touch with
some young adults magazines and get some kind of
advertisement in the magazine so while people are reading
the magazine they can see the advertisement.
The third form of advertisement is a little story to the
newspaper companies which they could put up in the
newspaper which some young adults read therefore they can
see it while reading the news
