BIRDS
• Birds are very active and lively creatures • They have hollow bones that make their body
light• Birds do not have teeth
Uses of Beak
Nest of Birds
• Different birds lay different types of nests• Eg Tailor bird and Weaver Bird make nest in
special ways
Tailor Bird
• It has beak like a sewing needle
• It uses silk from the cobwebs and fibers from tree trunk as thread
• It selects two green leaves growing together
Weaver Bird
• It uses strips from fresh green leaves and dry grass to make the nest
• It ties the leaf fiber with the tree branch by knots
• It weaves the nest with its beak by first making the entrance and the walls
Migration
• Flying of birds from cold areas to warm areas in winters is called migration
• Painted stork and Siberian crane migrate to India in winters

Insects
• There are more than a million kind of insects found on earth
• These include Grasshopper, beetles, bees, flies and mosquitoes
