“Tennant fulfills every criterion: taste, touch, interpretation, programming, insight and enjoyability!” (American Record Guide)

Beloved by audiences around the world, Scott Tennant is a favorite guest artist in music series and guitar festivals. A founding member of the Grammy-winning ensemble Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, Scott Tennant is himself considered to be one of the world’s top classical guitarists. Past seasons have taken him to festivals in Europe, Japan, the United States, and Canada.

Scott TennantHe has authored several books and articles on guitar tech-nique, including his best seller “Pumping Nylon,” which has attained a “cult” classic status.

He has made numerous recordings as a soloist on the GHA and Delos labels, and as a member of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet on the GHA, Delos, Sony Classical, Windham Hill, Deutsche Grammophon, and Telarc labels. Their Telarc release “LAGQ Latin” was nominated for a Grammy, and their current Telarc title “LAGQ’s Guitar Heroes” received a Grammy as the “Best Classical Crossover Recording” in 2005.

Scott Tennant is on the faculty of the USC Thornton School of Music.

concertizing solo and with such musical collaborators as Julian Bream, Itzhak Perlman, and André Previn, among many others, and with his ensembles.

His repertoire is evidence of richly varied musical interests, ranging from Renaissance music through 19th and 20th century music, of many nations – his recent CDs include his ensemble’s recording of adaptations of African music, and a solo recording of Venezuelan works. With over thirty best-selling recordings in his discography, John Williams has also played for such films as The Deer Hunter and A Fish Called Wanda.

“…the finest guitarist before the public today.” (The New York Times)

John Williams’ name is one that most music lovers have known for as long as they have known anything at all about classical guitar. Born in Australia, Mr. Williams has traveled the world since the early 1960’s,

Alturas DuoSaturday, April 30, 2011 at 8 p.m.Harold J. Kaplan Concert Hall Towson University

“…marvelous virtuosity...”(The Washington Post)

The Alturas Duo has been recognized as one of the most engaging ensembles performing in the chamber music world today. The only group of its kind, the Alturas Duo was formed with the idea of playing South American and classical music by bringing together the unusual combination of the viola, charango, and guitar, and in doing so, creating passionate music that moves at ease between the

Baroque, South American folk rhythms, and new pieces written especially for the duo.

The 2009-10 concert season will see the duo maintaining a busy schedule of concerts, master classes and lectures in Canada, the United States, Puerto Rico, Bolivia, and Brazil. They will collaborate with flutists Jessica Warren-Acosta and James Strauss, as well as with Coral Cantigas of Washington, D.C., the New Haven Chorale, the Crescendo Choir, and the Waterbury Symphony.

The Alturas Duo took first prize at the 2006 New England International Chamber Music Competition, and recently won the 2009 Chamber Music America/American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers Award for adventurous programming.

This tri-dimensional offering provides the basis for the phenomenal success of this musician and his ongoing evolution. Never falling short of a full event, his concerts unfold for his audience as a personal experience of emotional awakening.

He has a sensitive and colorful approach to the guitar – an unfailing open-mindedness which brings together all forms of music to each and every one of his programs.
