Continue reading, I’d love to hear what book you are reading now and why you like it? Can you write a book review for me? I’m loving reading more, I’ve been reading a book about Summer as well as some teaching books too! You will find a range of activities to do at home on the sheets, from maths and English, to science and art! Lots to enjoy! Feel free to use the opportunities on the Home Learning sheet in the way that best meets your child’s needs and suits you as a family - one size doesn’t fit all! If you need any pointers, just shout! Dear all, Well, we made it to SATs week everyone and what an odd feeling I have in my tummy and I’m sure that you all do too. This is not how we thought this week would be and you have all managed so well in the uncertain times so well done again. I know some of you are feeling pleased that you don’t have to sit the papers but I also know some of you will feel a bit of disappointment too, not feeling like you’re able to show off all of your hard work and feel that sense of achievement. However, you have all made me so proud, I am such a proud year 6 teacher and I feel lucky to have such a wonderful, thoughtful class for my first year of year 6. We don’t need those SATs papers to tell everyone how amazing you all are! Please enjoy this week, continue to learn and fill those brains up and continue to smile as best you can. You’ve worked hard and you should be proud… Please remember to keep sharing all of your fabulous learning via our class email address. I hope you all had a wonderful day celebrating VE Day on Friday, I certainly did. Just a reminder, the email address is: [email protected] which comes directly to me, I’ll look forward to seeing this week's fantastic learning! Thank you! I’d like to say a huge THANK YOU again to everyone who has been sharing photos and notes with me via email this week! I am continuing to enjoy seeing everything that you have been up to and praising you from afar! Here are some photos from last week: Please keep them coming! It makes my day… Now onto this week… English On the home learning sheets this week for English, using the helpful Oak Academy, your task is to write a setting description - I can’t wait to see the descriptive language that you use. know you will remember our setting descriptions that we completed in school, however, setting and character descriptions are an important part of writing and it is great to do a range of genres when writing descriptions. My challenge to you is to include 5 or more years 5 and 6 words from the national curriculum mat. Are you up to the challenge? A great opportunity to read other examples online too, ‘magpie’ some key phrases and use the high level vocabulary. Don’t forget to use the Oak academy lessons to check the features that are required. The website ‘WAGOL’ is great for this!   Maths In Bantham, we use White Rose Maths as part of our weekly learning, we are so grateful that they have provided these home learning packs for you to use at home. This week, the main focus is finishing off angles, looking at angles in quadrilaterals and polygons and then some problem solving! I know how much you all like to problem solve. Again, we touched upon this in class so a great opportunity to deepen your skills.! I’ll also set some more assignments on Mathletics for you to do, your scores so far are amazing! Well done. If you need your login information, please email as I have the master sheet.   Project-Based Learning There are all sorts of other activities for you to enjoy too, I know most of you have begun the Ancient Egyptians work, which is great. I can’t wait to see more of that.  You are moving onto different animal kingdoms in Science now, with the Oak Academy and we’d love to see you have a go at some cooking! Can you have a go at an Eygptian recipe?   I hope you all have a fabulous week again and I miss you all. After the Sunday evening announcement, it all feels a little strange but I’m trying not to worry. This week, we enjoyed a socially distanced street party with the neighbours. It was lovely to see all the houses dressed to celebrate and everyone in their front gardens!   Stay safe my lovelies and I’ll speak to you soon. Take care & lots of love,  Miss Rowe-Jones xxx

Star Learning of the Week!

Star Learning of the Week

This week’s Star Learning goes to Daisy B for making me smile hugely with your

‘Mummification of Granny Cleopatra Smith’. I am so looking forward to seeing the outcome and I bet you are too! A beautiful write up to go with your experiment too.

Well done Daisy B! Thank you for sharing your Home Learning with me!
