The Kingwood Park HS Band
returned from summer break
energized and ready to learn
on an early August morning.
Band camp is now at an end,
and the band has already
learned the first two move-
ments of their competitive
field show.
With heat indexes reaching as
high as 110 degrees this sum-
mer, this group has done a
fantastic job of personal ac-
countability to get the job
done as scheduled.
The first football halftime
performance we will be on
Friday, September 15th. It is
an away game against New
Caney High School. Make
sure you come cheer us on and
wear your favorite KPark
Band merchandise!

Matthew Hercl, tuba, and
Dylan Wootton, trumpet,
represented our school with
pride when they performed
and toured the U.S. over the
entire summer with the
Crossmen Drum & Bugle
Corps.
When asked about his expe-
rience over the summer,
Matthew Hercl responded,
“It was the hardest thing
I’ve ever done, but it was
the most fun thing I’ve ever
done. And we really appre-
ciated our friends from
KPark coming and seeing us
perform back in July. Hope-
fully they make similar
choices and decide to march
during the summer.” Dylan
Wootton added on, “It was
definitely a hard summer
but it was the best decision
I’ve ever made. It was simp-
ly amazing.”

Afterwards, the audience and the entire band
proceeded to the auditorium for a different kind
of performance. With the band set up on stage,
they played through the entire show, which
consists of three separate movements.
It was truly a great way to start off this new
season. This group of students have been work-
ing so hard and it is so rewarding to get to see
an almost finished product so soon in the year.
Here’s to many more great performances!
On August 24th, the KPark Band debuted their
2017 competitive field show titled “A Mother’s
Gift” at their annual Panther Premiere. A large
number of parents, relatives, and friends all
came out to watch and support this fantastic
group of performers.
Following a quick and informative demonstra-
tion from the color guard, the band set up and
showcased the first two parts of the show
they’ve been working on over the entire sum-
mer.

from 4:00pm-5:45pm. The band truly
excelled and they are excited to learn
more!
KMS Band was hard at work
from August 7th-11th learning
their pep rally songs. They are
really raising the bar and setting
the standard for the new year. In
just a week, they learned 6 out
of their 10 songs.
They debuted their music on
August 24th at Cougar Camp
