Axional Mobile POS“Smart” Mobile Point of Sale

Axional POS is a new generation point of sale terminal designed specifically to be used with latest generation smartphones equipped with high resolution screens and high performance computing capabilities that breaks the classical mould of big and heavy cash registers.

Incorporating functions only available in centralized computer systems allowing at the same time a rich user system interface while preserving operational capabilities offline to guarantee uninterrupted sales’ operations.

1. Supply organizations with the possibility to extend sales points just by giving a mobile terminal to a new vendor drastically reducing roll-out and main-tenance costs.

2. Offer an intuitive interface with near-zero cost learning makes the sales process easier than any earlier system.

3. Give sales teams a new experience in the relation with their customers allowing for a “side-by-side” interaction.

4. Allow customers to reduce buying time while increasing their satisfaction.

5. Give organizations the environment to build powerful business rules to optimize the sales cycle, for example: to instantly calculate special discounts

or offer a promotion to a certain client based on characteristics stored in the central datawarehouse.

6. Empower organizations to dynamically fine tune the sales conditions at any time.

7. Sales transactions are automatically sent up by unattended asynchronous processes without inter-fering with the vendor’s processes and allowing the company to take the pulse of the business in real time.

Axional POS gives a real advantage in the sales model compared with competition.

Faced by traditional retail systems and the impersonal points of sale, not only can a simple smart phone perform fast offline transactions but also allows the processing of complex operations synchronized with central systems.

The sophisticated sales interface includes:

1. Performing traditional sales operations using bar-code scanners1 and ticket printing on web-linked printers.

2. Select articles using family trees, product searches or character filters.

1. Bluetooth

3. Provide customers with catalogue-type functions with galleries of high definition images, video and even visualization of articles rotated through 360 degrees.

4. Consult the central inventory, reserves or check delivery status.

5. Process payments, accept on-screen signatures send receipts by e-mail or generate PDF 417 codes of the transaction for the later collection of materi-als or the making of payments to central collec-tions.

SCOPE OF APPLICATION

Axional POS is thought of as much as for organizations with its own stores as for franchise holders, allowing for the management of each franchise individually or sharing data so as to have a consolidated global view in real time.

The use of a mobile device or a tablet as a sales point makes it especially useful in areas where the relationship with the customer requires more interaction (fashion stores, jewelers, opticians, perfume houses, workshops, electricians, pharmacies, etc).

Interaction with existing devices

Axional POS allows for the natural operation of Bluetooth scanners and WIFI printers under the LPD4 protocol.

For operations to the cash till, a printer series or the display, Axional POS can dialog with a module hosted in the computer which manages the hardware and which serves as gateway for the orders sent by telephone.

By way of this system, a simple telephone or tablet can carry out the sales operations and arrange the cash till opening and closing using only the wireless connection and protecting the pre-existing hardware.

Prepared to run in “El Corte Inglés” stores

Axional POS includes functions to be used in corner shops in large sales center like “El Corte Inglés”. This functions include bidimensional5 receipt printing to automatically transfer purchases to central cash systems.

Sales objectives Define a sales objective for each store enabling a

real time analysis of performance.

Objectives can be set as: sales value, value of bene-fit, objective commercial margin, units, number of transactions, etc.

Objectives can be defined for a year while the sys-tem can make proposals for lower levels: monthly, weekly, daily using seasonal statistics of previous years.

Objectives can be set at different levels including: Country, area, store, customer, brand, manufacturer, family, article, model, etc.

ARCHITECTURE

The system’s design allows for connection with any pre-existing ERP system using a synchronization model of data specifically designed for distributed environments.

The Synchronization policy

The synchronization policy is defined as the combination of data structures that need to be

10

replicated in a terminal. The policy defines:

1. The tables necessary in the terminals for its internal use.

2. Download tables such as articles, prices, discounts, clients.

3. Upload tables (receipts, payments).

4. Processing tables (upload, process and download of the data processed).

And for each one of the download tables.

1. Synchronization intervals defined through a system equivalent to a cron7 (each Monday at 03:00, every day at 09:00 and 20:00, the first Sundays of the month, every 5 minutes between 09:00 and 13:30 and 16:30 and 20:00).

2. The filters that indicate operations of deletion of data (download of articles).

3. The filters that indicate the subgroup of data to download (articles, price zones, customers).

Therefore, different terminals can have different combinations of data that are synced with the central

7. cron is the regular processing administration tool under Unix systems

systems automatically.

The sync faces the problem of surges when all the terminals need synchronizing at certain times (end of day, campaign launches). The sync policy allows levels of performance to be defined to for example offer the terminals a staggered start-up time. If the interval is one hour, all the operations programmed for 20:00 will start up between 20:00 and at the latest 21:00 so that the central servers will have the charge spread across 60 minutes

Exceptions to synchronization

The sync policies, once adjusted, maintain the daily data flows. But how to resolve the necessity of responding to an unexpected change in prices or an unforeseen promotion?

The system keeps a SMS message monitoring service of authorized telephones which lets the central servers operate on the telephone without the intervention of the user.

Via this system the device can receive instructions such as:

Instant price synchronization.

Change prices at a certain hour.

Instant upload of sales.

deister software

Deletion of determined data from some articles.

The SMS message is received using the operator’s transport independently as if the mobile had internet coverage, and this will reply in three phases:

Sending a receipt confirmation message of the task.

Emitting a message indicating the completion of the task.

Uploading the results of the operation if it has been involved in the local data system.

Interruption-free operation

The need for the sales point to operate without interruption concerns organizations used to high roll-out and maintenance costs.

Each mobile device works autonomously and intelli-gently with a replica of the “vital” data on the SD memory.

This “vital” data means that the terminal will always able to process a sale or open up a new cli-ent account despite being out of range.

No in-store central computer is needed so adminis-tration is centralized.

When the Net goes live again, data processed and the new data ready for download will be synced again.

11

Page 12: Axional Mobile POS EN - Deister software · It also includes functions for EDI6 data interchange with central systems of “El Corte Inglés” stores. DATA ANLYSIS Sales integration

The mobile device can operate with WIFI networks such as 3G or even GPRS increasing the resistance to failure of the store’s internet provider. This com-bined with that it is a battery-powered device assures unprecedented availability.

Scalability

The system can easy build up from just a few terminals to hundreds or thousands. By nature the terminals work autonomously except for the operations which require real time consultations.
