January Axcel celebrates its first 2012 victory, an appellate win before the California Court of Appeals. The Court affirms our clients’ claims in their entirety.

April / May Axcel partners Craig Daniel and David Wei achieve a $3 million plus verdict after a week-long JAMS arbitration on behalf of a private equity-backed supplier to Walgreens, Rite-Aid, Walmart, and Whole Foods. After completing a $25 million stock purchase, the company’s new owners discovered serious accounting irregularities and material breaches of representations and warranties. The seller was an industry legend: co-founder of the preeminent Bay Area health club chain and former owner of a top optical products company. In a complete victory, the arbitrator awarded compensatory damages, attorneys’ fees, and experts’ fees.

June/July Axcel sues ICANN on behalf of an innovative local marketing company. After the Firm defeats a dispositive motion brought by ICANN’S AmLaw 10 law firm, the case settles on very favorable terms.

Attorney Stephen Kane joins Axcel. A graduate of Stanford University (J.D. and B.A.), Mr. Kane is a California native and previously worked with O’Melveny & Myers, LLP as an associate. He is also a co-founder of his own successful company working with companies like Zynga, Google, and Yelp!

August Axcel makes its first international trip on behalf of a European client. To better serve European clients, Axcel engages Charlotte Robe-Hughes, a graduate of U.C. Hastings (L.L.M). Ms. Robe-Hughes is a licensed attorney in France.

September David Banie joins the Firm as of counsel. Mr. Banie is formerly with DLA Piper, where he tried and won cases on behalf of emerging growth, insurance, and established companies in Silicon Valley.
