Experience of Georgia in Improving the

‘Women and Men’ Publication

Cooperation with users of gender statistics

One suggestion was to make the publication more user friendly

Help the user to see and understand the gender issues behind the

figures

Reasons for improvement of the publication

regarding coverage and quality

Increased number of indicators for gender statistics

Development of a new format for ‘Women and Men in

Georgia, 2015’



Cooperation project between National Statistics Office of Georgia and Statistics Sweden

The eighth statistical publication dedicated to gender issues

In terms of format and content it is absolutely different compared

to the previous publications

The publication is more understandable and user friendly



‘Women and Men in Georgia, 2015’

Title of the tables should be short and give clear description

Title of the tables should answer two questions “what” and

“when”

Marriages by previous marital status in 2014

Number of unemployed and unemployment rate in 2014

Pupils/students in 2014/2015 school year

Prevalence of tuberculosis – when presenting more than one

years’ data

Main changes towards improvement of the publication, examples of before and after

What we have done - conclusion



Presented a new booklet to invited users and media representatives

Presentation was like a life story beginning with sex ratio at birth and

ending with sex distribution in the parliament

Users appreciated the work towards simplification of the booklet
